Teens rush into burning building to save residents and their pets from house fire

Three Georgia teenagers became local heroes last year when they saved the residents of a burning home and even tried to put out the fire while waiting for the firefighters.

Teens Pearson Blair, Kai Keller, and Ryan Seymour were spending their usual day in their neighborhood in Paulding County, Georgia last July 17, 2020.

Then, the young men started noticing smoke coming out of one of the homes window. Alarmed, they went closer and saw that fire was slowly coming out, finally revealing the huge fire inside the home.

Instead of running to ask for help, the three high school football players wasted no time and hurried to help. They knew they had to act quickly.

They were able to quickly save the residents of the home along with their pet dog! The people in their neighborhood were amazed by their heroic acts.

“I was pitch black. Couldn’t see anything,” Blair remembered.

Everything happened so quickly. The fire was getting bigger by the minute, and the boys made sure that everyone in that home was safe.

Once they were sure that everyone was safe, the boys quickly grabbed garden hoses and tried their best to stop the fire.

They could have easily waited for the authorities to arrive, but they knew that they can still help by trying to put out the fire. Soon, the firefighters arrived and began to respond to the situation.

The authorities also began attending to the people who were rescued, along with the three heroes.

“It amazes me that three 14-year-old boys jumped into action without hesitation,” the boy’s Football Coach, Jason Nash, told in his interview with PEOPLE. “My first reaction was a great big smile and to show my wife about how courageous these three were.”

As a coach, Nash was super proud of the boy’s actions. It was indeed a selfless act. According to him, “they deserve every bit of recognition they can get.”

We couldn’t agree more, Coach Nash!

According to the Paulding County Fire Department officials, they weren’t able to pinpoint what caused the fire. But thanks to the heroic acts of Kai, Ryan, and Pearson, nobody got hurt.

Can you imagine what could have happened if they didn’t help?

Nash was so proud that he tweeted about his students:

In his tweet, he said:

“These young men saw a house on fire 2 grabbed a water hose 1 ran in to help get people and pets out. Being selfless & a good human being isn’t hard. Proud to call them SPARTANS!!!,”

He also said that the three showcased the real meaning of being “true teammates,” and that their parents would be so proud.

“They are extremely hardworking and want to be champions in any endeavor they are involved in,” Nash continued.

Their story went viral, and many people were so proud of these three young men. What’s more touching is how humble they are!

When they were asked why they did their heroic deed, they simply answered:

“Because that’s what we thought was right. And that’s what we think is the right thing to do—help others,” Kai Keller said.

“I wasn’t thinking about harming myself in that or the roof falling in from the fire. It was just someone needed help, so help them,” Pearson Blair recalled his experience.

The three teenagers are truly heroes. We’re pretty sure their parents are so proud of them, and we are too!
