The young employees of this coffee shop learned that a regular customer had just lost her husband. So they went out of their way to support her.

The stereotype of the careless teenager persists, even though it gets busted every single day. But this heartwarming event should be enough to convince even the most cynical person of empathy in young people.

It all began at a drive-through coffee chain in Vancouver.

The young employees were serving customers, trying to go fast, as a line had formed. But then they noticed that the next customer in line was distraught.

When she drove up to the window, Evan Freeman, who was handing over orders, asked what was wrong.

“And she was like no, she’s just having a really bad day. Her husband passed, and as soon as she said that, I was like there’s nothing more you need to say. We got this. We’re gonna do what we do every time we get someone who’s in pain or hurt. We’re gonna give them our love.” – Evan Freeman.

Freeman handed over a free coffee. But he realized that the woman needed more.

Then Freeman and two of his colleagues leaned out of the coffee shop to clasp hands with hers. They all prayed for the woman and her recently departed husband.

Pierce Dunn, one of the employees who joined the woman’s prayers, told the woman that he wished that she would find peace over her situation.

The teens were doing this solely for the woman’s benefit. But the customer in the car behind was touched. She took a photo of the employees and the woman praying and posted it online.

Pretty soon, the image went viral. In fact, the touching display of support even reached the manager of the restaurant, Jessica Chudek.

At first, she didn’t realize that her employees were the ones offering support. But when she recognized them, she felt a surge of pride.

Chudek had taught her employees to show respect and to care for the customers. She never imagined that they would go this far.

“I started studying a little more, and I said, ‘Wait, that’s Evan and Pierce. It’s my stand. Those are my kids.’ So I was just brought to tears right then.” – Jessica Chudek.

When the teens saw that their gesture of kindness had gone viral, they were modest. Instead of boasting about themselves, they said that they hoped that what they did would inspire others to be kind.

The teen employees also said that they would be happy to offer more prayers and hugs to the woman whenever she needed them. She is clearly going through a difficult time, and nothing can change that. But the kids and their heartfelt actions have shown her that others do care about her.

A news report of the teen employees and the woman then made its way onto YouTube, where it made an impact on many more people.

To date, the video has gained over 188,000 views. It also has more than 477 likes and dozens of comments. People have been saying things like this:
