Compassionate teens join hands to pray with crying woman at drive-thru

Even in today’s society with so many bad stories on the news, some people still go above and beyond when they see someone in need. That’s especially true now with the COVID-19 pandemic. There seems to be a lot more compassion, which helps uplift so many individuals.

Even with that, on rare occasions, someone has the opportunity to witness an incident that touches the core of their heart. That was the situation involving teenagers and a woman in a coffee shop drive-thru.

It started as a typical morning

What began as a normal day at the Dutch Bros Coffee shop in Vancouver, Washington turned into an amazing experience. Sadly, teenagers are often stereotyped but this day, several of them who worked at the shop proved how extraordinary they are.

Something out of the ordinary

Like so many other women, one came to get a cup of coffee. But as 19-year-old Pierce Dunn went to hand over her order, he noticed she was visibly upset. So, he did something incredible.

Teens with big hearts

Sure, Dunn could’ve simply given her the coffee and allowed her to drive away but that wasn’t who he was. He immediately felt bad for this woman although he didn’t have any idea why she was so upset.

Showing compassion

As the woman sat there in her car, crying, Dunn asked if she was okay. But he did even more. He told her if she needed someone to talk to, or even better, someone to listen, he was there to help. What a remarkable young man.

She was a regular customer

What caught the teen’s attention is this particular woman visited the coffee shop regularly and he’d never seen her like that before. Feeling she could trust Dunn, the 37-year-old lady shared that just the night before, her husband passed away.

Trying to keep it together

She went on to say that she could’ve stayed home but to get her morning coffee created a sense of normalcy. That’s when Dunn sprang into action. He called over another teenage employee working that day, Evan Freeman.

More than a good deed

Dunn didn’t charge the woman for the coffee. But then, he, along with Freeman and a third employee leaned out through the window. Without any hesitation, they both held the woman’s hand and began to pray for her.

Capturing a beautiful moment

Seeing what was happening in front of her, the next person in the drive-thru line instinctively took a photo. That woman, Barbara Denner knew this was something special. She was so touched with what she saw that she shared the photo on her Facebook page while praising the teenagers for their act of kindness.
