Police officers chasing someone on the highway, it’s not exactly something you’d like to encounter yourself. These high-speed chases are extremely stressful and chaotic for everyone involved, but in this chase, it was probably a four-footer that was the most terrified of all.

Every single day, the men and women in uniform risk their lives in dangerous situations and highway chases aren’t uncommon for them. Despite their rigorous training, these high-speed encounters on the freeway are still incredibly risky and dangerous for police officers, especially when there are bullets involved.

However, this time, police officers weren’t chasing a criminal with loaded guns – they were chasing down a terrified dog to try and save his life.

It all started with a traffic accident when a pick-up truck rolled over a dog managed to escape in confusion and panic. The poor four-footer was absolutely terrified and had no idea what was going on – his first instinct was to run as far away and as fast away as possible.

However, there aren’t really any safe places you can go to on the freeway, and the dog endangered both himself and the other drivers on the road.

Right away, police officers started the chase and rescue operation – and it’s an absolutely heart-stopping and spectacular rescue, to say the least.

A team of police officers was assisting the person who crashed the car, but colleagues of theirs started chasing down the frightened dog who barely escaped out of his owner’s arms. Luckily, there was air support and the police knew exactly where the dog was running to. Footage from the helicopter was also captured, which you can watch at the end of this article.

It all starts with a view of a crashed and a rolled-over pickup truck, but it doesn’t take long before the helicopter spots the dog who’s in full sprint. The dog simply has no idea where to run to, and it’s an incredibly hectic situation no matter what.

At one point, a police officer on a motorcycle tries to get ahead of the dog to stop him.

However, it turns out that this four-footer has got some serious speed, and not even the motorcycle could catch up with him decently. The police officer isn’t quick enough to stop the pooch, even though it was only a fraction of a moment.

When the highway suddenly starts to merge, the situation becomes even more dangerous with dozens of cars around. An accident was bound to happen if this continued for much longer.

That’s also something that the police officers realized, and their next plan was to guide the dog to the side with two motorcycles.

Luckily, this plan seemed to work out a lot better than the previous one, and the two police officers on the motorcycles manage to catch up. In a tactical manner, they get in the way of the four-footer’s path, directing him to where they want him to go.

One of the two officers stops a little bit further and waits for the dog to run towards him. The pup heads straight for the officer and then tries to make one last dash to escape in panic, but the officer managed to grab the dog just in time!

It’s an absolutely amazing rescue and it must’ve been harrowing for everyone involved. Luckily, all ended well.
