Terrified shaking dog completely transforms into a loving dog after adoption
The dedicated volunteers at the Houston and Harris County Animal Shelter work tirelessly to save and find loving homes for animals in need.
Recently, they took in a Redbone mixed hound named Annie, whose heartbreaking past remained a mystery.
All they know is that Annie is terrified.
Although the circumstances surrounding her past were unknown, it was evident that she had endured unimaginable challenges. Terrified and traumatized, Annie cowered in fear whenever someone approached her and shook uncontrollably when anyone came near.
Her eyes avoided contact as she always tried to hide in the corner. It was clear that she didn’t feel safe around people and there were a lot of barriers to break before she opens up.
Recognizing Annie’s desperate need for love and care, the shelter staff rallied the community for support.
They shared her story and asked for assistance in spreading the word, hoping to find her a forever home where she could finally experience the warmth and compassion she deserved.
In honor of an upcoming shelter production, they named her Annie. It can be a long road to finding a home but everyone hoped for the best.
After only eight days at the shelter, Annie’s luck changed.
A compassionate and nurturing family decided to open their hearts and take Annie home with them. Initially, Annie was scared and shy, preferring to stay within the safety of her own corner at home and avoiding any interaction with other dogs.
But with time, patience, and unwavering love, Annie began to blossom. Slowly but surely, Annie regained her confidence as her new family showered her with affection.
Their love and care encouraged Annie to finally embrace and experience life.
What was once a terrified dog who once hid in the corner was now a dog who fearlessly chased after her pug brothers and enjoyed every moment of her second chance at life.
Annie’s story is a testament to the importance of the “adopt don’t shop” movement, particularly when unadopted dogs face the heartbreaking fate of being put down.
Shelters and rescue organizations are filled with countless animals like Annie, who long for a loving family and a chance to thrive.
By choosing adoption, individuals not only give an animal a forever home but also contribute to reducing the number of animals euthanized due to overcrowded shelters.
People all over the internet also celebrated Annie’s second lease on life.
“OMG! Annie is a beauty. She broke my heart laying in the corner like that so scared of everything and everyone.” Said one comment, “I’m so happy she was adopted by good loving people. Thank you for saving her she is so happy now and can live her life with love and happiness.”
“Thank you for giving Annie a place to stay and for your loving care. Thank you also to the volunteer, who spent time with Annie to keep her company and to show her love. Thank you to the person who adopted Annie.” Said another.
