This unique theatre in Texas lets you go to the movies with your dog

As dog owners, there’s the urge to bring our dogs everywhere.

And as more and more people opt to own dogs, a growing number of establishments are beginning to pivot into dog-friendly businesses.

However, not all places can welcome our favorite furry friends. That is until a business in Plano, Texas did something that no one else did.

A movie theater opened in Plano with a very special business model.

Because, unlike other movie houses, this one allows you to bring in your dog with you. But it’s not just the kind of business that lets your dog in, it’s a place for you and your dog to unwind and relax.

Named K9 Cinemas, the establishment allows any one person to bring two dogs with them in all of their screenings. It’s a great way for you to hang out and make friends with other movie aficionado dog owners.

And just when you thought your dog is the only one who’ll have all the fun, you need to see their menu.

Interested dog owners are also given a treat during their stay – a choice between bottomless wine or four servings of whiskey.

The cinema also has a collection of dog-friendly movies that your pooch will surely enjoy. The ticket prices are a bit similar to your local movie house. It’s $15 for adults, $10 for children, and $5 for dogs.

The cinema also has a dog-friendly layout.

Instead of your usual cinema solo chairs or lazy boys, the theater has couches that you can share with your dogs. There’s also a large area in the front part of the area where dogs can mingle with each other or if your dog just wants to stretch his legs.

The establishment doesn’t announce the movie they’ll be showing. You’ll just know within the day so it’s always a fun surprise whenever you stop by the cinema.

But much like any place that’s open for dogs, there are rules to follow.

To ensure your safety and your dog’s, the theatre requires your dog to be up-to-date on all of their shots. You can either submit this online or bring a copy of your dog’s veterinary records to the ticket booth.

Dogs are also required to be leashed unless when they are in the designated play areas. Owners are also required to pick up or clean after their dogs.

These are rules that dog owners already follow so it wouldn’t be much of a concern.

The theatre was created by Eric Lankford.

Lankford left his pharmaceutical job to pursue something that will make him happy. That business is the pup-friendly theater he opened last 2018.

“I wanted to do something that made me happy for once instead of just chasing money and create something that made myself and others happy,” said Lankford to FOX.

To engage their community, K9 Cinemas also have events like “themed nights.” These themes include “karaoke margarita night” or “bring your dog to church night”.
