9 things you probably do that really annoy your cat

Cats change our lives so often, that it becomes difficult to imagine what we would do without them. Many times, we think we’re living perfectly, without hurting our cats in any way. Everything is going peachy right?

Well, not exactly. There are a ton of things that we do without even realizing, that our cats do not enjoy us doing. Now nobody is perfect, but if you’ve done anything on the list we have put together then we’re pretty sure your cat was not a fan.

Make sure they have a comfortable litter box.

Cat’s are picky creatures, no one is debating that fact. They are also picky when it comes to their litter box. There should be more than one litter box if you have multiple cats, and it should be cleaned daily. Some cats would prefer it to be cleaned even more frequently, it just depends on the kitty’s preferences.

If your cat is avoiding the litter box and you’re not sure why try making a few simple changes.

Unnecessary loud noises

Cats can sense more than you might think due to their keen hearing abilities. Shouting, banging, loud music, and any other over-the-top sounds will send them right into a tizzy. Help them out by keeping things quiet around the house as much as possible.

Reprimanding them when they do something wrong

Gentle guidance is always better than yelling or trying to force them to do something. Cat’s have a bunch of personality, and if your cat isn’t excited about what’s going on, they are never going to change. Be sure to talk positively and confidently when instructing your cat on change. They will thank you for it!

Not being aware of their needs

Cats like to try and disguise their pain, so you might need to work a little harder to detect if something isn’t quite correct. You know your cat better than anyone else, so if there are persistent problems like scratching, or other strange behaviors take your friend straight to the vet.

Give them a way to drink water that they will enjoy!

Your cat might not like his water bowl, and that will prevent him from getting the hydration that he truly needs. You can give your feline friend some sips from the faucet, but he should also always have access to a way to get water. There are other tips you can find on alternative water options for your cat!

Don’t tease the poor guy

Cat owners shouldn’t go out of their way to mess with their cat, and they shouldn’t let any one who comes over as a guest do so either. Poking or chasing will make your kitty quite scared and uncomfortable. Prioritize their feelings and safety during play.

Declawing is okay right? WRONG!

Declawing has long been thought to be a safe procedure that will help the owner deal with the stress of having a cat. But more recently, people have started to realize that the process is an actual bone amputation of some sort. It can cause increased aggression and bone problems. It will also be a problem if your cat ever finds itself in a situation outdoors in which it can’t defend itself, but it needs to. Do the right thing, and don’t de-claw them!

Putting clothes on them

Cats don’t like being laughed at, and while putting the cute costume on for Halloween might sound like a lot of fun for you, it won’t be for your feline. They will feel completely restrained and their agility will be restricted.

Don’t ignore grooming

Your cat might not like baths or claw trims, but it will hate being dirty and unkempt even more. Long nails tend to rip things and snag, and dirty hair can cause painfully matted fur that won’t be fun to play with either. Grooming is necessary, even though it might not be fun for your cat in the moment!
