Thirsty homeless dog finds a discarded bucket and begs people for water

Water is a sign of life. We need it to survive and to live.

An abundant supply of water gives so many health benefits, while the lack of it could bring a terrifying effect.

A person, a family, a community, a town, a country… the entire world; none can survive without it.

That’s how important water is.

Of course, water is just as important to animals as it is to humans. They need it every bit as much as we do.

In fact, a homeless dog proved just how important it is when it went out of its way to beg passersby for a drink.

Peru is just one of the many countries affected by drought.

“A drought or drouth is an event of prolonged shortages in the water supply, whether atmospheric (below-average precipitation), surface water or ground water. A drought can last for months or years, or may be declared after as few as 15 days,” according to Wikipedia.

Just recently, the citizens of Peru suffered a major drought that affected the entire country.

The massive water crisis took people’s lives and forced thousands of residents to leave their homes because of the lack of safe drinking water.

Thus, it also increased the number of homeless animals.

Truth be told, both humans and animals in the country suffered, but the stray animals living on the streets were most affected because they have no one to help them, save for the kindness of strangers.

“Peru is a country with vast natural resources and rich biodiversity. Yet years of misuse of water resources by the manufacturing industry, effects of climate change, a growing population and inadequate agriculture practices have increased water scarcity … country-wide water distribution is uneven … the Peruvian coast is home to more than 55 percent of the country’s population, yet has access to less than two percent of its fresh water supply,” writes UNOps.org.

A heartbreaking video emerged highlighting this issue and its effect on animals.

The video was taken in Lima, the capital city of Peru. In it, a stray dog is seen wandering the streets holding something in his mouth – a discarded bucket.

The water sources for stray animals like him are gone, and the only ones remaining have already been contaminated.

He roams on the street in the scorching heat while carrying the dirty bucket.

The dog begs for some water from the bystanders and passersby – it’s evident that it’s been a while since the last time that indulged himself in a fresh drink.

It looks like someone had already poured a decent amount of water for him to drink.

Though that may be the case, the poor dog still continues searching for Good Samaritan’s who will pour him more.

One lady even tries to pet him and get him to release the bucket of water, but he refuses – it’s all he has.

The video of this dog only proves that water will not be there for us forever.

Let us all open our eyes and make this realization; we should start conserving it so that in the future, no human or animal will ever have to be thirsty again.
