Family films hilarious "gender reveal" for their pre-teen adopted daughter
Three years ago, a blogger set up a “reveal” party for her unborn child’s gender. Since then, a lot of people joined the bandwagon and held gender reveal parties for their babies.
It became so popular that at one point, it became impossible to not see articles or posts about gender reveals. The viral phenomenon was at an all-time high with parents became more creative in ways of revealing the gender of their child.
It’s a (blue) boy! It’s a (pink) girl!
These emotional parties spread like wildfire in a blink of an eye. However, this phrase, unfortunately, became a reality after some people got too careless in California last year.
Thousands of hectares of forest land were engulfed in fire after a family used a pyrotechnic device to reveal the gender of the child.
Although these parties took a downturn, a recent video proved that it wasn’t really that bad.
Charlette and Dan Fontaine from Manitoba, Canada had their own twist in “revealing” the gender of their child and it wasn’t definitely what we’ve expected.
The couple wanted to have fun. so they decided to put their own quirky spin on it.
In the video, they celebrated the event by having balloons all over with Charlette saying, “I wonder what it is?”
Suddenly, Bianca walks over and pops the balloon into an explosion of pink confetti, yelling:
“It’s a 12-year-old girl!”
The joyous pair were standing beside each other, wearing Harry Potter-inspired T-shirts that pay tribute to their daughter.
Dan’s shirt says, ‘She’s a keeper,’ while Charlette’s reads, “She’s a catch.’
In the video, they celebrated the event by having balloons all over with Charlette saying, “I wonder what it is?”
But the most touching shirt is Bianca’s, which refers to her as ‘the chosen one.’
The little girl first came into the Fontaine’s lives when she was only 8 years old. In an interview, Charlette recalls:
“When we first started this [adoption process], I thought I wanted a baby. We had to take adoption classes, and what really stuck with me in the adoption class was that sometimes kids over the age of 2 are classified as ‘unadoptable’ because nobody really wants a child that’s not a baby. And that statement there has stuck with me and it broke my heart.”
Charlette and Dan took a trip to Niagara Falls back in 2017 where they threw a loonie (the Canadian dollar coin) into the falls and promised to each other:
“If there’s a kid that needs us, we’ll get a call.”
And as if it was a miracle, they got a call about fostering Bianca.
The viral TikTok video has been loved by so many people that it instantly became viral. It has been viewed more than 1.5 million times, with thousands of viewers saying their praises in the comments section.
Some of the comments were:
“This is the only gender reveal I want to see. Excellent. So wholesome.”
“This is the only gender reveal I wholeheartedly approve of. So much joy and love.”
“Adopting older children is really amazing. People don’t understand how hard it is for them to be adopted.”
“THIS IS THE BEST! I will only accept these gender reveals from now on! Happy Family Birthday.”
Charlette also mentioned that the video will inspire more people to adopt not just babies but older children too.
“Children that are older deserve a loving caring home like any baby does. An older child can be a beautiful addition to your family and bring lots of love and happiness.”
