Couple builds gorgeous tiny-home-on-wheels with enormous kitchen and beautiful views

An enormous cost of living typically comes with a large home.

Therefore, it’s pretty understandable why the Tiny House Movement has become so popular over the past decade. What do you think? Does living in a smaller space means a simpler life?

Lisa Tranter, 31, and her boyfriend Matt Hobbs, 32, built a perfect home on wheels. It looks tiny on the outside. However, the interior space is mind-blowing. Take a look at how Lisa and Matt thought everything through. Our jaws dropped.

The couple moved in together in 2019

Building a tiny home was Lisa’s biggest dream. When the couple got together, they quickly realized that they share a passion for compact houses. They purchased land in the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney, Australia. It’s a secluded area surrounded by beautiful greenery. The home sits on a block that came up for sale due to the frequent bushfires in the area a few years ago.

“The house is on wheels because we had planned to be able to move it however, as we own the land and don’t intend on going anywhere any time soon, that’s kind of been made redundant. It’s still an option though should we decide to move,” says Lisa in an interview with Daily Mail.

Hobbs did most of the job himself.

Conveniently, Matt is a plumber and owns a bathroom and kitchen renovation business, Hobbs Bathroom Co. Lisa is a barista and café manager, and together they came up with phenomenal ideas to downsize their living costs.

The house measures 2.5 meters in width, 9 meters in length, and 4.3 meters in height. It sounds quite small. Nevertheless, the place is packed up with everything Lisa and Matt need.

We’re talking about the complete living area, the full-sized kitchen, a fireplace, bathroom, and a stairway to the bedroom. Did we mention that this incredible duo managed to fit a king-size bed into their bedroom? Please, take a look at how comfortable it turned out.

Amazingly, they save $2000 a year on electricity.

Two things can be true game changers when buying a house. First, think about the bills.

Lisa explained that bills are tiny, saying, “The power with the air conditioning running virtually all the time over summer was about $300 per quarter. The four-bedroom house we were in before was about $800 per quarter, with solar already installed, so it’s a huge saving now. Water is about $140. We wanted to see how much we consumed before going off-grid, so we could accurately work out how many solar panels or water tanks to put in.”

The second advantage is that the house requires Lisa no longer than 30 minutes to clean it from top to bottom.

Even the pets are much happier.

Hunter and Chief, the couple’s beloved dog and cat, have the special tiny door to run freely from the home to their space outside. It looks like the couple had thought of everything. On top of everything, the couple says that their favorite thing about the house is how spacious the kitchen came out.

Lisa and Matt weren’t willing to sacrifice the kitchen’s square meters. Luckily, they didn’t have to.

What to know before deciding to build a tiny home?

Firstly, decide where you plan to “park” your property. Next, determine what you actually need to live with.

It is going to have to be less than what you already have. Start decluttering your rooms, and avoid buying new things. Give away the stuff you haven’t used in ages. The sooner you start practicing minimalism, the sooner you’ll get used to that kind of living.
