Man's funky 140-square-foot home is made from recycled windows – and it only cost him $10K

Tiny homes are all the rage right now! They are cost-efficient and can be super cute if built well. They are the epitome of millennial architecture and are a great way to go off the grid. They can also allow you to really express yourself since they have so many customization possibilities.

This man built a 140-square-foot home for $10k!

Derek Diedrickson built his dream home for only $10,000 in total! He managed it with some pretty inventive supplies and construction methods. The entire home only took four days to build.

The building materials are super exciting.

The home was so cheap, partly because of the building materials. The front wall is entirely made of recycled glass windows that have a lantern hanging in each one! The house isn’t even hooked up to water or electricity, so it is pretty off-the-grid.

The space is well designed with the “window wall.”

Since the entire front wall is made of glass, it allows the small 140-square-feet to feel much bigger and connected to the outside. More than just a wall, there is even a small glass window on the floor to bring it the outdoors even more!

Even the roof is designed with nature and space in mind.

The roof is translucent and does a great job of bringing light and nature vibes into the space. Derek built the home out of a desire to escape the city and bring more nature into his life. You can see that the design element incorporated around the house in many ways.

What tiny home is complete without a cozy loft?

Most tiny homes have a loft that allows them to keep more floor space open. This home has a wonderfully bright and open loft that is bordered by a wooden rail (wooden meaning literally a tree branch). The translucent roof really shines through here (literally), giving the loft a spacious feel.

The house has room for entertaining.

The home has a deck built into the front that allows for parties and people to come over! I don’t know what kind of people are hanging about in the woods, but they are invited! You can see the swinging bench they placed on the porch. What a great place to read a book!

Located in Massachusetts, this is one fresh home.

Many people want the ability to have a retreat space but for a lower cost. This is an excellent example that you don’t have to settle! You can have an incredible home that is perfect for weekend getaways. For $10k, this may be a great dream project to start saving up for!

You can actually take a tiny house class!

Derek, known as Deek, hosts his own summer camp, where he teaches people how to build their own tiny homes. I don’t know about you, but that is super cool! You can check out the link here.
