This tiny home is an eco-friendly, exotic pursuit of happiness! Anita of Portland, Oregon designed her dream refuge and contained it within an impressive 248-square-feet. But don’t let the size fool you, this home boasts one of the most livable spaces ever contained within a tiny home – a truly marvelous feat.

Anita’s spacious project houses a clever layout that can sleep up to six people. The interior is decked out with a wide array of colors and fabric, inspired by faraway places like Morocco and India. Each end of the house contains a loft area accessible by two decorative staircases, freeing up the central area as a full-height space.

Lilypad’s inception followed Anita’s decision to downsize in order to focus on realizing her dream to become an animal massage therapist.

She sold her belongings to save up money to work with Small Home Oregon and a design consultant (Lina Menard) to create this impressive home.

From the exterior, it may just look like another tiny home, but the interior is sure to dazzle.

Anita has commented on her decor style:

“My interior colors center around jewel and earthy tones such as deep purple, saffron spice, emerald and other bold hues. My decorative sari fabrics, cushions, lanterns, mandala art, carved wood accent pieces plus copper embellishments provide an exotic Moroccan style any bohemian would fancy. Within my four walls is a sweet and soothing sanctuary!”

Lilypad excels with an emphasis on open, breathable space. Inside, five individual rooms give a true sense of livability.

The ground level is host to a generous galley kitchen, complete with a dining table that pulls out from the wall when needed. The 8-foot long counter space offers a perfect amount of space for cooking and preparing.

Two almost full-sized staircases contain increased storage and lead you up to separate lofts in the house.

The main sleeping loft, also a place for meditation and dubbed the ‘aura room’ is home to a comfortable sleeping space with a full-sized bed. The downward slope of the roof leaves enough room to sit up in bed.

Anita, an avid stargazer and birdwatcher, modeled the layout to reflect her passions and was sure to include a picture skylight window.

Beneath the main sleeping loft is a fully-functional bathroom, complete with a shower and bathtub.

The home contains a wall-mounted woodstove, solar-panels, a composting toilet, and even a rainwater harvesting system that can provide filtered water for the bathroom.
