Animal rescue can be mentally draining.

Seeing children in pain and fear is never easy, and you never know which ones will survive. The horrific beginning of one stray puppy’s journey had a beautiful ever after.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis received a call reporting that a dog had been found wandering around in the snow.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis was notified of a dog in severe need during the winter of January 2019. They didn’t know anything about the dog, so they weren’t sure what to expect when they arrived.

They went to see the puppy while filming everything.

When they got to the call location, they saw the dog sitting on the snow beneath a light pole.

It wasn’t simply a dog, but a small puppy who was all alone and obviously in distress. This puppy will not be able to live in the cold for long.

Most dogs aren’t bred to be cold-tolerant and this pup was no exception.

Because the rescuers had no idea how long he had been out there, time was of importance. But as they neared him, things took a turn for the worse.

The pup began to whine as the rescuer approached.

Typically, this indicates that a dog requires help or is fearful. Both were true in this scenario. When the rescuer approached, the pup began howling more instead of quieting down.

The intensity of the cries is disturbing.

It’s awful to hear the young pup cry and wail like that.

All it took was a person getting close to him to bring him such distress.

We can assume that this puppy was undoubtedly neglected and humans were not “friends” with him. The cries become more intense as the woman approaches.

Finally, she slips a small leash around the pup’s neck as near as she can get.

In the dog’s mind, this is likely the worst thing that could happen.

Little does he realize that things are about to get SO much better for him! Things change radically as the dog understands that this woman isn’t going to harm him.

Soon, the pup was at ease and calm, with his head on her hand, receiving much-needed affection.

He was shivering and infected all over his body, particularly in one spot where he had been hurt.

He was also in discomfort and had paraphimosis on his genitals.

He was able to get inside her car once he felt and realized that she came to save him!

It was a difficult process, but this small dog would eventually learn to trust humans again.

The shelter named him Weezer (someone must be a fan) and began hunting for a home to love on this tiny pup.

They even shared a photo of him with his new siblings on Facebook!

He finally found a home that was willing to love him completely after his tears devastated the hearts of people all around the world.
