Mom shares hilarious photos asking for help after toddler has a fake tan mishap

There’s a saying: ‘Silence is golden unless you have a toddler. In that case, silence is very, very suspicious’. Some of our kids’ biggest claims to fame are plans that are hatched right next to us, unbeknownst to us, in that split-second moment where we just so happened to turn our backs. There’s no question that raising kids is a hard and exhausting venture, but it’s also ripe with tender moments of love and even comedy hours. Sometimes our children get into it so deep that our first impulse is to scold them, but all we can do is laugh.

Such is the case for a Melbourne, Australia mother named Alana Ree and her son Bailey.

She recently lit up Facebook when she shared photos of her toddler’s mishap with a bottle of fake tanner. And the results, while possibly very frustrating for a mother, are undeniably adorable.

The amused mother uploaded the mishap to a home-cleaning Facebook group desperately seeking advice from the community. Her son had covered his face, hands, and arms in a bottle of ultra-dark self-tanner, thinking it was soap. Bailey, who had been in the bathroom washing himself, came running down the hallway towards his mother declaring himself ‘all clean’.

Instantly, the 30-year-old mother realized something wasn’t quite right.

Initially, she thought perhaps this was a joke and he had covered himself in dirt. But then the realization hit her.

Her bottle of Bondi Sands Ultra Dark fake tan had been in the bathroom with him all along.

Reed hurridly uploaded the unusual incident to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group. She reached out for assistance asking, “Does anybody have any ideas for getting ultra dark tan off a toddler’s face, hands and arms? He used half the bottle to “clean himself” and lemon and baby oil are making it worse. Please help!”

The response was overwhelming as the post quickly went viral. Thousands of users poured into the comments, offering suggestions ranging from harsh chemicals to all-natural solutions. One user was quick to point out that Bondi Sands also makes a tan eraser, probably worth a good shot.

“‘I’ve found toothpaste and then dishwashing liquid good for removing food colouring. Try it on his hand. Best of luck. Maybe use makeup concealer on his face until it wears off?” said another.

A third chimed in:

“Just give him lots of baths! Thanks for the best laugh I’ve had in ages!”

Despite the chaos of the situation, many entertained a light-hearted laugh.

It’s not the first time a toddler had ever gotten himself into trouble, and it wouldn’t be the last.

Reed posted and updated the following day, disclosing that despite their best efforts, Bailey’s complexion had turned even darker overnight. She admitted that she was ‘running out of options’ to the group.

If nothing else, Bailey will just have to wait five to seven days for the tan to fade naturally from his skin. One thing is for sure, though – he’s still adorable!
