Toddler walks up to baby gorilla at zoo and they begin playing a sweet game
There isn’t anything in the world as pure as friendship. Regardless of what form it comes in, all that matters is having it.
That is why seeing an innocently genuine interaction between a little boy and a baby gorilla is so amazing. What makes it so mind-boggling isn’t the interaction per se, but rather that the two of them play with each other with the ability to understand the other.
Also, both parents of the pair are nearby and allow for the sweet interaction to occur. It really is fascinating. Separated by a glass, the two play as if it isn’t even there.
It all started when the little boy’s family decided to take a trip to the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. His mother, Sherry Chute, was recording her son, Isaiah, in the Congo Expedition of the zoo when she captured the tender moment between he and a baby gorilla named Komali.
Isaiah was just 2-1/2-years-old at the time. Komali also had just been born two years prior, in 2013.
Chute asked her son what gorillas did. Apparently, his rendition was so good, it caught the attention of an actual gorilla.
She told The Columbus Dispatch, “He was just looking at the gorillas and we said to him ‘Isaiah what do the gorillas do?’ and he started pounding his chest.”
Lucky for us, we were able to see what occurred afterward.
Little Isaiah climbed the rock formations in order to get as close to the glass as possible. Komali watches patiently for him to arrive. In the meantime, one of the older gorillas watches the interaction from the branch of a tree.
You really couldn’t make this up!
Suddenly, Komali makes a noise and takes off towards the other end of the glass and away from Isaiah. Isaiah smiles and looks at Komali who waits on the other side of a tree for him to give chase.
Chute can be heard saying, “Go get him, Isaiah,” in a playful tone.
He does just that. With the biggest smile on his face, he chases Komali who then runs to the opposite side of the tree. It doesn’t take long to realize that Komali wants to play peek-a-boo.
Isaiah becomes excited and begins squealing out as he chases Komali around the tree. After several rounds, Komali decides to take a break.
“Oh, he’s tired,” a man, presumably Isaiah’s father, says.
He then tells him to wave goodbye to Komali.
Chute said of the interaction, “It was so fun to see him interact with the animals and know what they were. He was just so truly blissful in that moment, it melted his mommy’s heart.”
Apparently, her heart wasn’t the only one that melted. Many users expressed their emotions as well after watching the video of the two playmates.
“That is the sweetest thing I’ve seen today.”
“And still people thinks we aren ‘t related with animals. Sweet video.”
“I wanted to cry, that was so cute.”
It’s amazing what a video can do! Hopefully, these two buddies were able to see each other in the future and reenact this heartwarming moment.
