4-Year-old sings at Springsteen concert – becomes ‘youngest member of the E Street Band’
There is something special about going to a live concert. That’s why we all go. There is an energy all around you as a mass of people are all enjoying the same thing at the same time. It kind of feels larger than life. I assume you know what I mean.
If you can recall your first concert, you can remember how ‘alive’ it made you feel, and you knew that it was just the beginning of all the shows you’d see in your life.
When you see a young child at a concert, you can’t help but be reminded of that moment.
You know that they are captivated, and the moment will be remembered forever.
While attending your first concert, whether it’s at a small local hall or a huge sports stadium, that experience is enough to spark the excitement to participate in more.
But for one little girl, her first concert was more of an experience than she would ever bargain for.
That little girl is named Nevaeh. Nevaeh and her parents had front-row seats for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
This was back in 2012, when concerts were still happening, but WOW! Front-row tickets for your first concert?!
Although Nevaeh is only four years old, she is a huge Springsteen fan.
She even knows the words to his songs. Now, I’m sure her parents have some influence on what she listens to, but there is no doubt she enjoys the music.
In the video, Nevaeh is just in front of the person filming, so you can see her head bouncing, as she dances to the music.
The band is in the groove with the hit song “Waitin’ on a Sunny Day.”
Springsteen has such massive energy while he’s on stage and can command the audience to sing along. He’s working the stage from side to side.
As Bruce gets closer to Navaeh and her family, he stops and picks up a sign from a fan in the crowd. Though we can’t read what it says, we know that it was enough to capture his attention in the middle of his song.
You can tell Springsteen loves to have fun during his shows.
Springsteen keeps making his rounds, interacting with the audience along the way. After he is finished singing for an audience member, he makes his way back to where Nevaeh and her family are.
He notices the little girl for just a moment and makes eye contact with her. How cool? Her family was so excited to have his attention, if even for just a moment.
The show is going to get even better.
After Springsteen heads off to the other side of the stage, he’s only there for a moment before he’s about to head back.
From a bit of a distance, he points at Neveah and alerts the family.
He tells them to let the little girl up onto the stage with him.
The family, of course, is more than thrilled and hoist Nevaeh over the barrier and onto the stage.
Springsteen indicates to the girl to take a seat next to him as they sit down.
He raises his hand, and the band responds by quieting down but still playing the song.
Nevaeh is already a pro and, without hesitation, starts to sing the song without a cue.
“I’m waitin’, waitin’ on a sunny day
Gonna chase the clouds away
Waitin’ on a sunny day”
Bruce’s reaction to the little girl is so cute.
He’s in awe and says, “you’re so good!”. He lets her sing the chorus three times and loves every moment of it. The crowd loves it too!
They both stand up and give the crowd a bow. Three bows!
The crowd loves it and applauds the little girl’s performance. Springsteen acts like a proud parent during the whole experience, and it’s so adorable to watch.
Later, Springsteen would call her the “Youngest member of the E Street Band ever.”
