Toddler tells dog to sit – is absolutely delighted by the sequence of events

Dogs can have a mixed reaction to kids. Most often, a dog has no problem while being in the presence of children. Only when they are not used to children can problems arise. One little girl has a perfect relationship with her family’s canine as a video posted online shows.

In the video, a little girl that looks to be around the age of two or three stands in front of a Great Dane in the kitchen of her home. As the dog stands there staring at her, the girl giggles and babbles some incoherent instructions at the dog.

For his part, he seems to be obediently awaiting her command.

From off-camera, you can hear the girl’s mom telling her to tell the dog to sit. In response, she gives a clear command of “sit, sit” to the dog. The dog then proceeds to do as she asks, delighting the little toddler in the process.

She seems pretty proud of her ability to do just like her parents and get the dog to sit on command.

As a reward, she throws a dog biscuit on the floor, which the dog quickly gobbles up. It is obvious from the video, which has gotten over 600,000 views on YouTube, that the dog loves the little girl and would probably do anything she asked.

Fortunately, the girl’s parents have trained this dog well, allowing him to have a great relationship with the toddler, even though he is three times bigger than she is.

Fortunately, many dogs and children can have a great relationship. For this to happen, though, you first need to train them to be comfortable around a child. And while not all dogs will get along with kids, most of them can if you keep some simple tips in mind while training them.

Some of the things that you can do to make your dog more apt to like children is to socialize them at an early age. Starting when they are just a puppy, introduce them to children in a positive way, including children of various ages. It is also important that the child is well-behaved around the dog and gentle with them.

Adult dogs are a little bit harder to socialize, but this is not impossible. Just have patience when doing so and offer the dog a treat when they show signs of being able to tolerate the presence of a child. If the dog shows any signs of stress or aggression toward the child, remove the dog from the situation.

If needed, you can also have your dog trained to be more tolerant of children by a professional trainer. A professional trainer knows all of the tricks to get a dog to comply, even more so than you do. Finally, train your dog not to jump up on people. Their size can be an issue when jumping up, especially with children who are smaller than them.

By keeping an eye on your dog and making sure they understand that a child is not a threat, you can train your dog to be more accepting of children in no time. This should allow the child and dog to grow up together and, hopefully, develop a lifelong friendship.
