People have been using YouTube to listen to music since the site was invented. This little girl’s version of “Old McDonald Had A Farm” has gained millions of fans.
Children’s songs that go on and on and on can become annoying really fast.
Yes, the wheels on the bus do go round and round. But parents don’t always need a musical reminder of all the sounds that buses make every day. Life is stressful enough.
Of course, when the child singing the children’s song is only just starting to learn it, it can be very cute.
Josie was almost two years old when she started singing “Old McDonald Had A Farm.” She was so cute while singing it that her dad just had to film her.
With the aid of a toy, she began singing. “E i e i oh, and on the farm he have a…… pink,” she said, while looking at the part of the toy that had a pig. Pigs are pink, to be fair.
“Pink, pink, pink,” she kept on repeating in a ponderous way. Then she enthusiastically got back to the “e i e i ohs.”
Without any prompting, Josie started saying, “With a oink, oink here and a oink, oink there.” She could remember the noise a pig made all on her own!
Soon, Josie was keen to move on to the next animal. “And on the farm, he had a little dog.”
After informing her dad that there was a woof-woof here and there on old McDonald’s farm, Josie moved onto the next animal.
The next animal on the farm in this version of the song was a cat. Josie knew that the cat meowed.
Next, it was the little duck’s time to shine. Josie decided that the duck was appropriate for an epic finale. She started singing really high, “eeee iiii eeee iiii ohhhh.”
Pleased with her own performance, Josie said “Yaaaaay!” Her dad agreed and told her that she had done a good job.
Josie’s dad asked her what song she was singing. “Errrrr, piggy and cow and piggy and little dog, little doggie, little cat, little duck,” she replied.
Perhaps the toddler was worried about infringing copyright law and decided to give the song a legally distinct title? Any resemblance to other popular farmyard songs is purely coincidental!
Eric, Josie’s dad, then uploaded the footage of the girl singing onto YouTube. It soon went viral.
To date, it has managed to gain over 12.1 million views. It also has more than 35,000 likes. Strangely, there are also over 1,300 dislikes, presumably from Old McDonald Had A Farm purists who hated to see a classic song reinterpreted in such a way.
And this wouldn’t be Josie’s final viral video. A little later, Eric uploaded a video of Josie having a tantrum at her grandma.
In that video, the child explains that she’s not talking to grandma because she said a bad word. That bad word? “Poop.” Josie even threatened to tell her mom and dad what grandma had said.
Josie clearly has a big personality. No wonder she’s gained a large audience!
