Toddlers who battled cancer together reunite after finding out they're in remission
Battling cancer isn’t easy, particularly for kids. That’s why their parents work extra hard to make sure they don’t feel alone in their fight to get better.
Mack Porter, a 3-year-old boy, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma.
He had to get his cancer treatments at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. As he was getting better, he found Payson Altice who’s also three years old.
The two kids became best friends easily.
As soon as Mark spotted her parading down the hall holding huge mylar balloons, his parents knew that they’d bond right away- and she was right. On that same day, he approached Payson’s mom and asked her a very interesting question. He asked if they’d be interested in taking a walk with him.
Getting their treatments was hard and COVID-19 made things extra difficult for the pair.
In an interview with Today, Traci Barrett, Payson’s mom, shared:
“Payson was so isolated. It was so hard to meet people because of the pandemic. She was asking for new toys every five minutes. And then Mack came along.”
Even though they have IV lines connected to them, the pair was still able to bond over their favorite shows.
They watched Peppa Pig together. Payson even introduced her friend to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In return, he taught her some really cool moves he was able to learn from her older sisters.
Earlier this summer, both kids won their battle against cancer.
They have gone into remission and they’re getting better every day. Although their families were so happy about it, there was one downside they have to deal with- the pair won’t be able to see each other as often.
Even though they live 30 minutes apart, a meeting was still not easy.
And after two months of being separated, they started expressing how much they want to be with each other again. Each morning, Macky would ask his mom when he’ll be able to play with Payson again.
Because of how much the two missed each other, their families had to set up a reunion.
In the video, you’ll see Macky holding a bouquet of flowers. He personally chose it which made it even sweeter. He also picked up toys he knows his friend would love.
You can see how happy they were to see each other.
Even their parents started tearing up. In the same interview, Macky’s mom shared:
“Traci and I were both teary watching them be kids. As soon as Mack got up from his nap he was like, ‘I need to find Payson and bring her a present.”
The reunion warmed people’s hearts on the internet.
One YouTube viewer said:
“Thereās nothing like a True Friend! I wish you 2 kids get to play together A lot of times

Another one commented:
