Carol Burnett’s hilarious toilet paper skit hits home now more than ever

American citizens have begun stocking everything up during the coronavirus pandemic, but there’s one thing that is selling out crazy fast in every store, toilet paper.

For some people, getting any toilet paper whatsoever has been nigh impossible.

Nothing about the coronavirus is funny, but the toilet paper deficiency is another matter. Comedian Carol Burnett once did a funny skit about toilet paper that is surprisingly relevant in today’s current situation.

The performance about toilet paper seems entirely relevant.

Burnett plays a housewife in the video who’s just coming back from shopping. Everyone is gone at home, and when she opens the fridge she finds a roll of toilet paper, accompanied by a note from her son.

She reads:

“Dear Mom. Your toilet tissue isn’t soft enough, so I went to the library…forever. Love, Bobby.”

Burnett just laughs and tries to put her other groceries in the pantry. But inside the cabinets, she finds another roll of toilet paper.

This one has a second message for the mom, but this time, it’s her daughter. It says:

“Dear Mom. I ran off with a motorcycle gang that had softer toilet tissue. LuLu.”

Burnett’s clearly upset, and she responds:

“She tried to warn me, but I just wouldn’t change brands!”

The skit keeps getting better and more hysterical as it goes on.

It keeps coming, the doorbell rings and Burnett receives a roll of toilet paper from the postman, it’s from Carol’s husband, and he’s ticked about the toilet paper.

We were laughing out loud when Carol reads:

“Dear Mom. Mentally, I just couldn’t cope with our toilet tissue so I quit my job today and ran off with the lady chiropractor. The two of us are living now in Arizona working the earth praying for a good harvest.”

The note goes on:

“Sure, it’s a simple life compared to what we had, but after your toilet tissue fiasco, this is what I need now. Someday perhaps we’ll see each other again, if not, we’ll work something else out.”

The toilet paper notes don’t stop either– She gets one from the neighbors and one from a burglar!

Carol is a comedic mastermind and her facial expressions are second to none.. Finally, she looks at the camera and says what we are all thinking in 2020:

“Why, why did I have to take my toilet tissue for granted! I don’t know, it just didn’t seem that important, but I guess it is.”

People recently have been commenting on the video things like:

Someone else responded:

“If they only knew back then how funny this would be today.”
