Horse and trainer perform “Git Up Challenge” and completely raise the stakes

“The Git Up Challenge” is the latest popular dance sensation sweeping the nation.

This Western-influenced line dance spectacle has taken the web by storm, with countless groups uploading videos of their performances. Originating from Blanco Brown’s song “The Git Up,” police officers and general dance-enthusiasts alike have participated in the fun, adding their own original pizzazz and styles.

Like with any new dance fad, there are preestablished moves. One draws from the generally accepted choreography but is of course given the artistic freedom to add a unique flare. Recently, it seems like everyone and their mother – or horse – have jumped on the proverbial dance floor.

Meet Toaster (which is honestly a pretty ridiculous, albeit cool name), a beautiful mustang trained by Adriane DeWolfe of South California. Training is a common aspect of any domesticated horse’s day, but Adriane has recently been focusing on alternative studies.

Unbeknownst to the premature eye, Toaster’s got some slick moves. He and Adriane get involved in all the dancing fun, but with a horsey twist, as seen on Animal Channel.

Their rendition starts amid Blanco Brown’s music with Toaster sitting, ready to start dancing. Adriane and Toaster quickly partner, moving “to the left” and “to the right” to the lyrics of the song.

Toaster and Adriane go through an array of different maneuvers to the beat of Brown’s hit. Toaster easily veers in the appropriate direction, even hesitating his steps intelligently to the rhythm. He goes on to perform a 360-degree spin at one point and starts bobbing his head along with the music.

Toaster has many talents, a Renaissance horse of sorts, including a Mozart-esque handle of the piano.

Toaster seriously does a great job of staying in rhythm and performing the correct choreography. His steps are perfectly in sync with Adriane’s at times. His handling of the dance is borderline human. Honestly, he probably has better footwork than most people. This version of “The Git Up Challenge” undoubtedly provides something new.

Throughout the course of the dance, one can see genuine happiness come from both partners, clearly enjoying spending time together throughout the production. Adriane and Toaster share true affection. Their hug says it all.

Toaster’s performance may surprise some. More and more, horses are being thought of as intelligent organisms. They have been known to quickly learn commands and understand body language. Additionally, they perform well in categorization-based cognitive challenges and concept formation.

They are actually very complex, social creatures attuned to the herd. They are commonly misconstrued as simplistic or unintelligent, but studies and regular human-horse interaction demonstrate the opposite, all according to Horsetalk.

At the end of this horsey version of “The Git Up Challenge,” Toaster even opens a cooler and provides a water bottle to the thirsty Adriane.

Toaster and Adriane’s performance of “The Git Up Challenge” clearly required many rehearsals and time, but it serves as another extraordinary example of the surprising capabilities of some organisms. Although he might not be Michael Jackson, Toaster has some seriously smooth moves.
