Butcher shop owner opens his doors every day to feed stray animals with meat scraps
We all know a self-proclaimed “dog and cat lover” or two. But only a few really commit to the title and take it to the next level. This butcher in Turkey is one of those few.
Meet İkram Korkmazer, a Turkish butcher who regularly has some furry visitors stopping by his shop, Yeşim Et Galerisi
With all that delicious meat on display, it’s no surprise that some keen noses from outdoors followed the scent into his shop. Unfortunately, many animals still live in the streets – and the streets are a really tough place to live.
When you’re not watching your back for passing cars or cruel folks, you’re also struggling to find shelter or something to eat.
It started when a stray cat peered at the delicious meat strips behind the glass.
We know cats love to invite themselves over when there’s food. Ask anyone who owns a cat. I guarantee they’ve had their cat leap onto the table in pursuit of their owner’s food a few times.
But unlike most of us, İkram didn’t mind giving the cats a few strips of the food he had.
İkram filmed himself feeding the adorable feline and uploaded it to TikTok. Soon, a trend started and people loved it.
Before long, other four-legged, furry visitors were stopping by İkram’s shop. More cats and dogs came by for some scraps, and İkram was happy to have the company.
In fact, İkram always makes sure he’s got a few scraps of meat in case his friends come to visit. He loves them that much!

His meat shop is now a regularly-visited stop for the numerous stray animals nearby.
Any dog or cat who happens to be close by can check in, and İkram will be happy to throw them some strips of meat.

Not to surprisingly, his little interactions with the animals made the local news.
They made the printed news too, and garnered him a massive TikTok following too. İkram’s now got over half a million followers on TikTok.

His uploads on there are just as much a treat as the meat he sells. He regularly posts more footage of adorable pooches and cats having a little break at his shop. İkram even serves the meat on a plate for some of them.
Talk about fine dining, huh? Funnily enough, the publicity from feeding the animals probably gave his shop more business from actual customers too.
In fact, some people are even visiting from overseas to see the renowned meat-shop.

İkram got a visit from two overseas fans that he shared on Instagram.
“Our animal lover friends from all over the world are coming to visit me, Mr. William and his wife Didem from the United States, North Carolina came to visit my workshop. They thanked me for looking after the friends next door!” – he wrote in the caption
