Twin sisters marry twin brothers — and now they are pregnant at the same time
When twins Briana and Brittany Deane got married, they chose the perfect partners, fellow twins Jeremy and Josh Salyers. Now known as the Slayer Twins, the two couples soon had another exciting announcement to make: Briana and Brittany were expecting, at the same time.
Getting married to twins
Since they were young, Briana and Brittany have loved the twin subculture they were a part of. They dressed alike, they double-dated, and they did just about everything together. And now they are going to have their first children together.
According to Briana, the two have always dreamed of marrying twins. So, when they found Jeremy and Josh and fell in love, they were ecstatic.
“It’s really been a fairy tale come true. Marrying twins is something that’s very important to us. We knew that the chances were incredibly scarce. The stars had to align for our dreams to come true. I get to marry the man of my dreams, and at the same time I get to look over next to me and see my twin sister marrying the man of her dreams,” Brianna shared.
A dream come true
First meeting at a festival in the appropriately named Twinsburg, the couples were soon engaged to be married. The four of them ended up getting married in a joint wedding ceremony. Once the double knot was tied, the twins made plans to try and get pregnant together.
Getting pregnant together
The two couples announced to the world that they were pregnant in a truly spectacular way. Briana and Brittany wore matching red bathing suits with the words “Baby Watch” printed on the front. Their husbands, meanwhile, matched them in matching red swim trunks in the Baywatch-themed announcement on their Instagram.
On the post, the couples shared their feelings on the occasion:
“We are so grateful to experience overlapping pregnancies and to be able to raise children of the same age together.”
They’re having a baby
The status of their moms and dads as twins will put the couples’ babies in a special category all their own. The children will not only be cousins, but they will genetically also be siblings.
“So, in the case of the Deanes and the Salyers, ‘genetically, the two women are indistinguishable from one another, as are the two men,” Dr. Alexandra Burt, a co-director of Michigan State University Twin Registry told the Daily Mail. “That means that each child will share as many genes with their aunt as they will with their mother. The children are cousins “in real life” but, in terms of their DNA, they are siblings.”
One big, happy family
As for Briana, Brittany, Jeremy, and Josh, they are excited about the prospect of the overlapping pregnancies and look forward to raising their kids side-by-side together in the home that the couple shares.
