One of the best things about children is their doting affection to their parents. No matter what sort of day you’ve had, seeing the happy faces of your little ‘uns when you arrive home is bound to cheer you up. One mom managed to capture the reaction of her own baby twins when Daddy returned from work– and the video is just adorable.

Maritza Van Cott’s gorgeous girls, Anabel and Lydia, were enjoying playtime on the floor when their dad came through the door to greet them.

The family dog barks, and we can hear some rustling and banging from out of shot, then Dad’s voice saying, “Hi!”

The babies’ joint reaction is immediate. The two little girls’ expressions switch from curious to ecstatic. They look up at their daddy with adorable smiles, and wave their arms up and down in excitement.

It’s clear this man means the world to them!

“Hi!” Dad says again, and Mom pans the camera over to him, standing in the doorway. Of course, Dad is absolutely beaming, too. It must be a lovely feeling to come home to such excitement from the dog and the babies!

Dad’s smile makes the girls giggle away happily. They only get more excited as Dad comes closer, wiggling their whole bodies and grinning from ear-to-ear. You’d think Father Christmas had stepped through the door with a big sack of presents. Clearly, to Anabel and Lydia, their daddy is the best present of all.

The video was filmed when the twins were aged 7 months, a special time for many parents. It’s at this point that babies are able to sit up on their own, communicate in their own babble-talk, and smile and laugh in the cutest way. They aren’t able to fully understand the world around them, but they can recognize familiar faces, and even show preference for people.

At the 7 months stage, parents will start to see their babies developing a personality. They might not be speaking in sentences, or even words, just yet, but their responses and reactions say a lot about how they’re feeling. When they’re happy, they’re likely to show it through smiling, laughter, and, of course, dance!

As it turns out, the Van Cott double act may have some real moves behind their bottom-wiggles! Their dad is a musician, and he’s since been busy writing and playing songs with the cheeky pair. It’s clear that music, laughter, and smiles are the ingredients that make up this happy family.

As the video dates back to 2010, we thought we’d take a look at the twins all grown-up. The picture below shows the pair as they are now – how time flies! They’re still just as sweet as ever, but of course, they’re grown girls now, not bald babies!

We’re happy to see that Dad made it onto the photo, proving the family foursome is still as strong as ever. The whole family is grinning away, clearly enjoying a great day trip out.

We wonder what the girls have to say about their adorable baby video today. It’s certainly something for Mom to bring out at family get-togethers for a nostalgic re-watch.
