Two dancers create magic on the dance floor with silky moves

There are some moves that you just don’t lose. Maybe the old idiom that you can’t forget how to ride a bike is true! Charlie Womble and Jackie McGee are great examples of this! They have been professional dancers for years, teaching, competing, and dancing since 1981!

An incredible achievement, these two had a winning streak for twelve years!

While most would be content to have a winning streak of one, these two had a twelve-year winning streak where they won over 300 competitions. An absolutely remarkable feat, this couple really had some moves.

They were so renowned that they had a trophy named after them!

To honor the dancing duo, an award and trophy were named after them. The National Shag Dance Championship trophy was dubbed the “Charlie and Jackie” trophy. That is quite a history and pedigree!

More than just dancers of a bygone era, these two are active and still love to dance!

You won’t believe their skill until you see it for yourself. Many kids these days would be straight up put to shame, trying to compete against these two. They continue to dance because they want to preserve the dance and music of the Jazz era.

Deciding to dance to the song “Be myself again” by Eric Benet, the duo gets down to it.

Getting a chance to see some legends like these guys dance is quite an honor. We are about to see people who have a history of dance and honor following in their wake. They would make for some great grandparents! I wouldn’t want to have to dance after them at a wedding!

As the two step up and the music starts, you can tell they know what they are doing.

The guitar strumming starts, and a secret word is shared between the two. Even in their age, they have some serious class and elegance as they start moving their feet in a way that I could only dream of.

Once the snare kicks in, Charlie does a bit of a flourish, showing off the skill hiding underneath.

Right when the snare drum snaps for the first time, Charlie really starts to show his skill. He is precise and skilled in his movement. It looks like they have been dancing together for years (and they have!).

Jackie is quite an elegant partner!

You can tell the Jackie is an expert as she moves her feet, twists, slides, and dances, perfectly in time with the music. One may say that her dance moves were less showy, but from her perspective, she did the whole thing in heels and backward!

No matter the age, you can always tell an expert when you see them at their craft.

I am sure that these two are living out their golden years, knowing that they have left an incredible legacy for people to watch and feel inspired by. No matter the age, I am sure that these two will be dancing together for a long time to come.
