Couple brings passion to the streets with the sultriest public tango yet

“La Cumparsita” means “little street procession,” and it’s also the name of one of the most famous tango tunes of all time.

Composed by the Uruguayan musician Gerardo Matos Rodríguez in 1916, it’s instantly recognizable, even if you think you’ve never seen or heard the tango. It’s even the official song of the country now!

In 2015, dancers Mora Godoy and Marcos Ayala decided to take “La Cumparisita” to the street in a public performance.

While Godoy performed the dance on the Argentinian version of Dancing With The Stars, her street performance with Ayala is far more popular with the YouTube crowd. A video recording of their sultry show has been viewed over 2.8 million times since it was uploaded.

She’s so well-known for her dancing skills that she was invited to teach President Barack Obama how to tango during a state visit to Argentina! (And she said she was impressed with his skills!)

Godoy and Ayala’s epic public performance took place at an exhibition on the streets of Barcelona.

Each artist has their own dance company and has performed with the other on stages around the world, including Barcelona’s majestic Greek amphitheater during the annual Festival Grec de Barcelona.

But since not everyone can attend these cultural events, we’re happy to see them taking dance to the people.

There appear to be over 100 people in the crowd from what we can see and the audience is understandably mesmerized by their fast-footed and sultry performance.

The tango is always pretty sexy, but these two take it to the next level.

And we’re not going to lie, we are shocked at how well Godoy can dance in those stilettos on pavement – that’s a whole separate skill set!

What’s most incredible about the video is that no single screenshot can give you an idea of the way these two move. They’re so talented and so fast that they’re either a blur or they look simply stationary. But trust us when we say they are far better to watch in motion.

Photos also fail to capture the sultry nature of the dance.

While Godoy gets far more kudos from commenters than Ayala, we think they’re both pretty darn passionate. And there’s no doubt that this is a man who can move in ways we don’t see very often.

Alas, some commenters didn’t think so:

“The girl was terrific, but the male was wooden with stilted steps and no feeling. Esthetically, he was wearing skin tight pants which emphasized his skinny long legs. The height difference didn’t help and most of all NO PASSION,” said one woman.

She sounds like fun.

“The most beautifully danced Tango I’ve ever seen! Technically executed and so elegantly performed!!” said a less judgemental Facebook viewer.

In fact, the Facebook version of the same performance has over 1.2 million views! It’s pretty clear that people love watching these two dance. And we wouldn’t be surprised if the video appeared elsewhere with even MORE views.
