War has a way of separating families and friends.

Many flee to other states or countries to seek refuge while others stay to fight. Some of those separated are pets who are not allowed to cross the border. Thankfully, there are kind people who will go the extra mile in looking for their families.

The Russo-Ukrainian war has caused a lot of mayhem and separation for Ukrainians. Getting a piece of positive information is underpinned by the sad and gruesome destruction people face in the country. However, this small positive news gives a glimmer of hope that there will come a time when all of these difficulties will end.

After all, pets are known to show comfort to humans, especially on the most harrowing days.

That’s why it wasn’t a surprise when a Ukrainian man and his Siberian husky were reunited after a scary separation.

On April 4th, Ukraine was attacked by the Russians.

People fled their homes. However, Nessie the black and white husky was separated from her owner while they were fleeing. Many Ukrainians tried their best to not leave their pets. but not everyone was lucky. One of them was Nessie and her owner. Alone to fend for herself, Nessie began to wander around.

Thankfully, Ukraine has reclaimed Bucha.

They were helped by a group of vounteer soldiers from Ukraine called the Kastus Kalinouski Battalion. During their reclamation of the city, they found Nessie and took her as their own. They couldn’t leave her there among the carnage. Nessie was too kind and they were happy to give her food and shelter.

At first, they thought Nessie was a stray dog, but eventually, they realized she has a home that needs to get back to.

So, they looked for Nessie’s owner and finally found him.

The heartwarming reunion was posted on Facebook by the Kastus Kalinouski Battalion.

“During Bucha’s release we found Nessie, the dog that was left alone. But thanks to our friends, we found her owners and today she returned to them.”

Bored Panda translated the post’s caption.

One soldier also tweeted,“Rescued the female dog, Nessie. Her family has already been found and she will return to them tomorrow,”

Nessie and her owner were happy to see each other.

You can see from the video that Nessie was jumping and running around her owner. It looks like she was bawling her eyes out and telling her human owner her whole story. It was difficult living alone and Nessie couldn’t be happier to finally be back with her owner.

Her owner had a wide smile, but Nessie was even more ecstatic!

She couldn’t stop yelping and licking his face.

Although we’ll never know what she has to say, we know that it was full of joy and love. Her owner thanked the battalion for taking care of Nessie. Afterward, he played an audio recording to Nessie of, who we believe is, Nessie’s other owner who couldn’t be there.

It was truly a beautiful reunion.

“As long as some treat people like animals, we are fighting for the lives of not only humans but every animal,” the battalion added.
