Whenever we get caught speeding and we see those blue lights flashing behind us, we usually have a few choice words for the officer. What those words probably aren’t, is “Nice dance moves!”

Music often evokes a response.

Music is one of those things that transcends the world around us. Whether it’s chills from a great orchestral swell, a shiver from a sad and minor song, or the urge to dance when Cupid Shuffle hits the speakers, we all respond to it in some capacity.

Officer Jose Marrero found himself in a similar situation recently at a football game. Officer Marrero was an on-duty officer who was keeping the peace as a football game in Florida. Everything was going as planned until one of those transcending moments occurred. The Cupid Shuffle started.

Florida officer finds himself swept away with the music.

There have been songs that have been written across the centuries but there is something special about the Cupid Shuffle. It demands a response. Officer Marrero responded. There is something to be said about a man who can hit moves in perfect time to the music. As the song continued to play, Officer Marrero found himself the center of attention as he hit each move in quick, accurate succession with his fellow dance mates.

Standing out from the crown in uniform, it looks like someone ordered him for a bachelorette party.

As Officer Marrero stood out in his uniform, he still found himself a part of the crowd. He looked completely at home dancing with the people he was protecting and watching over.

Uniforms make us forget the people underneath them.

There were so many people dancing in this video to the Cupid Shuffle, yet none of them found themselves going viral. Why is that? An officer in uniform represents something. Order, protection, authority, and steeliness. Maybe this video is a reminder to us all that there are people under the uniforms that we see every day.

The combined elements of a police officer, precise dance moves, and a video camera make for viral video perfection. Amassing over half a million views on Facebook alone, we can see how funny it is to see uniformed authority to be “one of the people”. Whether on Facebook or YouTube, there were plenty of hilarious comments that added to the video:
