Research tells us that a UPS driver makes approximately 120 deliveries in a day. That’s why no time is wasted when it comes to dropping off packages. Some seasons are significantly busier, too. That means a ton of packages, eager (and sometimes impatient) customers, and drivers who find breaks a bit difficult to come by. The main priority is to make as many smooth deliveries in a day as possible, that’s why UPS drivers make sure to move as swiftly as they can when they go from one house to another.

But when it’s a matter of patriotism and good deeds, this particular UPS driver doesn’t think twice.

Chelsie Root Ashley of Adair, Oklahoma shared footage from her doorbell camera of a UPS driver taking his time to straighten out the American flag outside her home.

Her short caption reads,

“The hero of today is my UPS driver!! My USA flag was rolled up so he stopped and fixed it before he left. Happy Memorial Weekend!!!!”

The mom was busy preparing for the day and didn’t have time to receive the package herself, so she decided to check the app connected to her doorbell security camera. She wasn’t expecting to see something incredible. The video shows the UPS driver dropping off Chelsie’s package but stopping right before he stepped off her porch. It was because he noticed the rolled up American flag.

The driver took time to unfurl the flag and make sure it was blowing in the wind before heading back to the vehicle.

Chelsie shares,

“He didn’t know anyone was watching him, but he just did it just to do it. I thought it was so cool what he was doing when no one was looking.”

Her Facebook post gained 2K reactions and almost 100K views. The amazing bit was, in the comments section, friends of Chelsie were also able to identify the UPS driver as the father of another one of their contacts.

And because it went viral fast, the footage reached one anonymous veteran who was overcome with joy.

According to Chelsea, the veteran said,

“It makes it worth it when we are gone for a long time. This is what makes it worth it.”

Apart from proudly sharing the video and emphasizing how patriotic she thought it was, Chelsea also expressed how important it was for everyone to witness something uplifting – that’s why she didn’t hesitate to share the footage on her Facebook page and even on TikTok. The incident also reminded her of the tremendous sacrifices made by soldiers.

“That made me emotional because it’s making vets cry. That flag stands for so much, it’s so heavy, and I wanted everyone to know how much we respect our vets. Just something uplifting and positive right now because of everything going on.”

We sure can learn a lot from the UPS driver’s actions!
