UPS lies to driver about package address where people are waiting to ambush and blindfold her
When was the last time you thought about who the driver is that delivers your packages to your front door? For UPS driver Carolyn Crump must have made quite an impression on the customers who lived along her route. So much so that the community got together to give her a surprise.
Dedicated to her job
Crump, who has been a driver with the package delivery company for over 23 years, has gotten to know the people who live along her regular route in Clayton, Missouri. Her dedication to her job has not gone unnoticed, with many of the people in the small community appreciative of her efforts.
Going above and beyond
“Every single person can give you a story where (Crump has) gone above and beyond, like bringing up groceries when someone’s arm was broken,” community member Jason Lehtman told ABC 17 News. “She’s got a heart of gold. The day before we had to put our dog down, I found her in our foyer saying her goodbyes to our dog. That’s the type of person she is.”
Putting together a special gift
After Lehtman heard Crump mention needing a new roof for her home, he sprang into action. And within two weeks had raised enough money to pay for the roof replacement thanks to the community and a GoFundMe page established to help raise the funds.
Initially, Crump had been told there was a missing package and had returned to the neighborhood to investigate. Once there, she was grabbed by members of the community and blindfolded. Led to nearby Concordia Park, she was surprised with a giant check with enough money, and then some, to help pay for her roof replacement.
Crump is loved by the community
Usually, UPS drivers get both compliments and complaints about their work through the company’s Website. According to UPS, Crump had only received compliments for her work. Crump’s supervisor, Jane Strini, also showed up for the surprise.
“During this time, it’s just nice to see a community come together, as well as just recognition for her. You couldn’t ask for anything better,” Strini said. “She is a definite UPS’er — that’s her.”
Giving special attention to the dogs along her route
In addition to the community members who showed up for the presentation were their pets, who had also grown fond of Crump. The driver was known to spare a minute to pet the dogs along her route. She usually has plenty of treats for her canine friends, though was a little short on the day of her special surprise.
“If I’d known this was happening, I would have brought the whole canister (of dog treats),” Crump said,
