Heartwarming video of amputee veteran adopting a 3-legged German shepherd goes viral

Losing a part of your body isn’t easy. It can make you fall into depression or feel lonely despite having lots of support from family and friends. It can even affect the way you view and feel about yourself.

42-year-old Dane Orozco has been working hard to prevent anxiousness and sadness from overwhelming him.

A couple of years ago, he had his right leg amputated due to an infection. His loss affected his life in so many ways. He felt that he could no longer be the man he used to be.

Although he can still do things, common tasks require more time and effort for him to complete.

The feeling of being slower and weaker triggers his anxiety and depression every day. And to address those feelings, he looked back at the things that made him happy. One of them was having his dogs.

Dane took a trip to visit an animal shelter.

There, he saw a dog he was able to relate with. The animal had the same disability. He was also missing a leg.

Dane shared:

“When I saw Kane, I immediately sade to myself that I was going to take him home. I instantly fell in love with him. We both have our right legs amputated.”

The pair’s meeting was caught on camera.

The vet staff had to amputate his limb to save him. After a couple of months at the clinic, he was introduced to Dane.

The two walked out of the shelter together.
