Touching video shows cat’s ‘struggles’ of growing up with a little brother

Even if we find the idea of a younger sibling exciting for a moment, we’re soon disillusioned by all the noise and neediness, not to mention that attention they get that used to be ours.

If you’re a cat, like the beautiful tortie Lyla, you’re even less amused if your people plop a puppy down in front of you.

You give it a good sniff – you’re not impressed.

Maybe you do a little poking around.

What is this thing? Why would you do this? Is this a joke? When is it leaving?

Upon investigation, perhaps you find out that the sleeping furball might just stay asleep that like.

And maybe that’s ok.

But while puppies sleep a lot, they don’t sleep enough for cats.

Lyla would have to learn to live with Koda (aka Mr. Koda Bear), a ridiculously cute German Shepherd.

Is there anything so opposite to a chill, aloof cat than a puppy of literally any kind? Poor Lyla couldn’t believe the amount of moving around he did or how much he wanted to play.

Fortunately, Lyla found ways of torturing her baby brother that suited her just fine.

And the puppy got a pretty good idea early on who the boss was, and that he’d have to please his sister if he wanted his toys or crate.

Of course, before getting a sibling, Lyla would spend time curled up with her mom, purring and relaxing and soaking up all the affection.

But how are you supposed to compete with THIS? Koda was just too cute.

The house and its owners would have to be shared.

The truth is, baby brothers come in handy sometimes when you’re looking for something.

And if they get in your way, you always have the option of swatting them away (when you’re a cat).

Maybe you even get used to being in the background a bit.

You can always use it later to make your parents feel guilty or even build you your own Instagram account.

Of course, many pets learn to live with each other, some begrudgingly and others as furry siblings so they can cuddle and play with the best of them.

It didn’t take long for Lyla and Koda to show they’d be the latter.

And cats needn’t worry since they’ll usually maintain the upper hand when it comes to clever ways to stay safe and entertain or confuse dogs.

Just take a look at how little effort Lyla has to put into babysitting!

After a while, it can be nice to have someone else around to snuggle with when the humans are busy doing other things.

And when they grow up, brothers can be your greatest protectors and best friends.
