Internet is in stitches over video showing a dog finally getting a cat from his dad
We’ve all held conversations with our pets before, even being so kind as to provide both sides of the conversation. We’ve also all wondered what on earth is really going through our furry companions’ minds when we are talking to them. One man has decided to entertain these conversations in even more detail, though, through the art of dubbing.
Meet Andrew Grantham, the man who is going viral once more for his dubbed video of a hilarious dog reacting to his dad bringing home a kitten.
You may have heard of this animal-dubbing genius before when he released his first mega-viral video, Ultimate Dog Tease, in 2011.
In this video, an unseen dog dad starts telling his pooch about his trip to the fridge.
The dog is super interested in what his dad is saying until he hears him say he ate the maple bacon and he gives him the cold shoulder. The voiceover teases even furth, describing a delicious, meaty bowl of goodness piled high in treats… which dad then gave to the cat.
The video raked in over 200 million views and won Grantham the YouTube #1 video of the year as well as the highly coveted Gold Play Button for reaching over 1 million subscribers.
Just a year after his Ultimate Dog Tease video was released, Grantham lit the internet up with another hysterical dubbed video of a dog having a chat with his dad.
This time, food wasn’t the object of discussion. It was a baby kitten. Apparently this goofy and gorgeous doggo wanted a kitty really, really, really bad.
So, his dad goes out and gets him one. The dog dad has every intention of letting his pup play with the new addition to the family, but not without teasing him a little first.
The dubbed video starts out with Clyde the dog frolicking around the house when dad gets home. His dad stops him by saying “Hey! You remember how you wanted a kitten?”
Clyde “says” yeah and then his dad tells him “I went to the pet store today!“
Clyde is beside himself and can’t believe it! The dog says “No way!” and gets excited. Clyde starts heading toward the door where, presumably, the kitten is, but then dad tells him to “keep his collar on”. He makes sure he met all Cylde’s specifications on his new kitty sister. He says “you wanted a girl?” to which Clyde says “Yep!” Then, “you wanted a Tabby?” and Clyde said “Yep. That’s right!” then squeals “Oh, I can’t believe it!” as he leaps through the air.
Before he shows his dog the kitten, he wants to tell him about everything he checked out while he was at the pet store.
He tells him he looked at the snakes and Grantham has perfectly dubbed Clyde’s reaction with a timely “BLEH!” as the dog sticks his tongue out.
Clyde’s dad reassures him that he didn’t bring home any of the snakes, putting him at ease.
He continues to tell him about all the different animals he saw at the pet store. He lists everything from guinea pigs and mice to parrots and newts. From the disinterested and slightly confused look on Clyde’s face, he has no idea why his dad would stop to look at ANY of that.
Then Clyde’s dad gets to the kittens and he goes wild again, jumping for joy. Clyde says “Oh, that’s where you stop because that’s what you were gonna get me…” To the dog’s utter disapproval, his dad keeps on going with the list and mentions hermit crabs.
Clyde’s dubbed reaction to this is hysterical as he tosses his head back and shouts out a long “OH! COME OOOOON!“
Clearly frustrated now, Clyde walks over to the edge of the sofa and threatens his dad. “You’re gettin’ me a kitten or, or I’m gonna chew this couche’s arms right off!”
Again, Grantham’s timing in the dubbed reaction here is incredible.
It’s so easy to get lost in the belief that Clyde is actually chewing his dad out for messing with him. It’s this ability to combine personality, circumstance, timing, and wizard-like editing that makes him the King of Dub.
Finally, in the middle of Clyde’s temper tantrum, the dog hears a tiny, high-pitched meow.
His eyes get all big and he asks his dad what the sound was. Now that the cat’s audibly out of the bag, Clyde’s dad tells him he picked up a shelter kitty while he was out and the Clyde goes nuts before he finally goes to meet his new fur sibling.
