Hilarious video shows what sleeping with pets is really like
When you have pets, bedtime can be a big deal. Everyone attempting to secure their own slice of the bed can turn nighttime into a game of Twister. Sleeping positions can end up very pretzel-like for everyone involved as well.
No matter how tiny your pet, they will always find a way to take up more than their share of the bed. It is a near-universal trait shared among dogs, cats, and other animals as well.
YouTuber shares what sleeping with pets in the bed is like.
YouTuber MilkyBokiTan shared a video about what it is truly like to sleep with pets in your bed. The video has pet owners cracking up all across the internet.
Not everyone is open to the idea of pets sleeping in their bed.
There is little in this video to convince such people they are wrong either. Sleeping with a pet in your bed means you are more likely to get woken up and less likely to have all the room you want. Sometimes have your loving companion nearby can make that all worth it, however.
So you want to let your pets in the bed with you…
The video begins innocently enough. Around 40 seconds in the man’s cat decides they are going to sleep dead centre in the middle of the bed, as cats tend to do. Meanwhile, the man’s dog is content to sleep on the floor in the corner.
As it gets to around 2 AM in the video the man begins to do something many pet owners must do in their sleep, change positions. The man eventually has to angle his legs off the bed so as not to disrupt the cat’s position. The cat would eventually move around 4 AM, allowing the man to pull his legs back into bed.
A dog decides to hop in bed around 4:30 AM.
The man’s dog has been resting comfortably on the floor all night but at around 4:30 AM they decided it was time to get a little comfier. They opted to sit right next to the man’s head on the bed and would occasionally reach their paw out hoping to get some scratches and pets.
Okay, it’s time to get up now.
Then around 5 AM, the cat comes bursting into the room and declares it is time for everyone to wake up. They let out a loud meow to inform everyone else of this. Their alarm didn’t work, however, and by 5:45 AM they are back in bed as well.
Does sleeping with your pet cause sleep disruptions?
There is some debate that can be had regarding if sleeping with a pet in your bed is actually bad for your sleep. A recent study from the Mayo Clinic states that earlier studies that claimed pets can damage sleep patterns might be incorrect. Their study concluded that having a single dog in one’s bed doesn’t necessarily lead to such problems.
“Humans with a single dog in their bedroom maintained good sleep efficiency; however, the dog’s position on/off the bed made a difference. A dog’s presence in the bedroom may not be disruptive to human sleep, as was previously suspected,” the study concluded.
