Food plastic wrap or cling film has tons of uses. Even though it’s just a thin plastic film, it’s quite reliable when it comes to securing food items. You can also use it to keep your bananas from getting ripe too fast and to prevent mixing bowl splatter.

There’s just one problem with plastic wraps.

Although they’re designed to ‘cling’, it’s not a good experience. When you have lots of work to do in the kitchen, the last thing you want to happen is to get into a fight with plastic wrap.

One woman is going viral for her plastic wrap trick.

Well, she didn’t come up with the trick. It was her aunt who shared the mind-blowing tip with her.

Tara’s aunt was visited her one day.

And as Tara was preparing meals, her aunt expressed concern about how she handled the wrap.

The aunt asked:

“You know Saran Wrap’s supposed to go in the freeza, right?”

Tara was speechless after hearing that.

Like most of us, she keeps her wrap in a kitchen cabinet or drawer. It’s the most obvious place to store plastic wrap.

Turns out, like many of us, Tara has been storing her wrap the wrong way.

And to test her Aunt’s suggestion, she placed her wrap in the freezer and left it there overnight. She was surprised to see the result the next day.

Tara held it up in front of the camera as proof for non-believers.

After trying to destroy a part of it by clumping it in her fist, she was able to peel them apart.

She said:

“It wouldn’t have unwrinkled that easily if I didn’t put it in the freezer.”

Like Tara, thousands of people who’ve watched her video were shocked by the results.

One TikTok viewer said:

“today years old when I learned this”

Another one commented:

“Tiktok educating me everyday and I’m grateful, I can adult better now”

There was also this person who said:

“now that I think about it. makes sense. room temperature is too hot for that thing”

While there are instant believers, there are also people who can’t stop questioning the hack. One of them said:

“but the whole point of cling film is that it sticks to itself? I’m confused”

It’s hard to explain exactly what made the tip effective.

But a good assumption involves moisture. Freezing the plastic wrap probably helped removed it.

Another theory was proposed by Today Food. According to them, freezing the plastic wrap causes molecular changes. Once you warm it up, the wrap returns to being sticky.
