Vocal dog refuses to get into his kennel – and it sounds like he actually says “no”
If you have kids, then you know how rebellious they can get when they get older, with talking back being a big problem. Luckily, through a little understanding and some patience, families can move past this stage. But what do you do if the one talking back to you is your dog? While ignoring the commands of their owner is definitely a no-no, one husky is so cute in doing so that his owner just canât get mad at him.
Siberian huskies are a very popular breed
Originally bred to pull sleds across the frozen tundra of the Siberian Arctic, the Siberian husky is known for its loyalty and outgoing nature. Also, huskies have a mischievous streak that can get them into trouble at times. Overall, huskies make a very good family pet and have become one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the world.
Brian, the Siberian husky, has learned how to tell his owner no
In a video posted on YouTube, the owner of a white Siberian husky, named Brian, tells him to go get in his house. Brian doesnât seem like he wants to do as he is asked and gives a resounding âNoâ to the surprise of his owner. At first, viewers are left wondering if they had heard the dog correctly.
Brian refuses to do as he is told
Brianâs owner then continues to tell Brian to go to his house, to which he responds with a clear ânoâ each time. It makes you wonder if he really knows what he is saying or if he has somehow been trained or even learned the behavior from somewhere else. Either way, it is hilarious to watch the stubborn dog argue with his owner.
Brian has a lot of supporters on his side
The video has over 1 million views on YouTube, with many commenters clearly on Brianâs side. And while Siberian huskies are known for their ability to vocalize, who would have thought that at least one has learned how to say no. Hopefully, it doesnât spread to other dogs, or we could have a full-blown rebellion on our hands.
Can dogs talk?
But, can dogs really talk? According to a study from John Hopkins University, the simple answer is no. The speech that you sometimes hear is an illusion created by the production of the vocal sounds that a dog makes. When a dog engages in speech, it is them imitating what they have heard in the past. This behavior is even more prevalent if you reward your dog for doing so.
How dogs communicate
One of the main things keeping your dog from talking is the limitations of their voice box, which are unable to produce actual speech. Luckily, dogs have learned other ways of letting us know what they want. They do this by using their bodies, including their tails, posture, and eyes.
