When 3 young children go missing in the woods a volunteer sets out and miraculously finds them

A missing child is every parent’s worst nightmare.

There are many situations where a child can get lost. Based on the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there are over 460,000 missing children recorded in the United States every year.

The number of missing children is astounding and one can only imagine the anxiety of their parents.

As much as modern technology has evolved, there are still a lot of cases where children are not found. Families do their best to work with authorities and look for their missing child. Other organizations also reach out to these families to help them look for their loved ones.

On a particularly rainy day, three children went out to the Sam Houston National Forest to play by a dry creek.

There was a trail that they used to follow, however, they deviated to go explore the watery area. After a few hours, they noticed the unfamiliar surroundings. They were lost and it was starting to rain.

As taught to them by their parents, they stayed together and waited for help. Meanwhile, their parents started to get worried and informed the authorities that the children were missing. When the officers arrived and assessed the situation, they realized that the children had used the common trail.

They started to plan and search for the children despite the pouring rain.

After searching for hours, the police had to stop and had plans to resume searching in the morning.

By this time, the children had already been missing for 14 hours.

The tensions were high because the kids haven’t had any meals.

At 7 am, first responder agencies and the Montgomery County Search and Rescue Team resumed their search for the missing children.

Sgt. Jason Smith found the children, ages six and seven, one mile from where they entered the forest.

The children were exhausted and cold, but they were still in high spirits. The sergeant immediately asked how they were and gave one of them a jacket.

“Kids, I’m the police. Are y’all ready to get out of the woods?” he said.

They responded ‘yes’ and Sgt. Smith told them they would get something to eat once they made their way out of the forest.

One of them shouted, “Cheeseburgers!”

It wasn’t a surprise considering they didn’t have any food or water for days.

Sgt. Smith praised them for holding up. After trekking for 20 minutes, they were able to meet other first responders.

Wrapped in coats, the kids safely got out of the forest.

The children didn’t seem to be injured, and they did, indeed, get to eat a few cheeseburgers upon their return.
