Ways you can host an epic virtual happy hour this quarantine
Self-isolation during this very sensitive time in our world is the best thing we can do. Reality is settling in for most of us while we start missing our friends and family. Social hours have completely vanished and most of us have probably started talking to our walls.
In a time of such solitude, people are thinking of innovative ways to stay social.
Grab your smartphones, laptops, or anything with a webcam and get the crew back together!
Facetime has become our greatest love, keeping us in touch with friends and family from afar. No matter where we all are in the world we have the virtual ability to interact, and what a blessing that is… To think we already were thankful for the technological world we live in. Kids have the ability to stay in school and in touch with teachers through the advances of technology.
Now it’s time to bring happy hour back to life!
You can host your very own virtual happy hour. All you need is some sort of video camera device, a glass of wine or any liquid of your choosing, invite your greatest pals and act as if you’re all right next to each other. What a brilliant idea!
There are some things you can do to make this new hang out session a lot more enjoyable for everyone.
First maybe a little research on some video chat programs that can include all of your homies. Got a small click? Facetime through iPhone can handle up to three or four callers pretty successfully. Got a larger crew Skype is another video chatting platform that allows up to 10 people for free. Google hangouts is another option for a larger group setting as well.
You’ll want to be sure to set a time that everyone knows is happy hour time.
Maybe even set an end time if you have things to do afterward. This gives your fab friends a set in stone time to sit back relax and catch up from afar. So no one feels like they’re just blowing in the wind like “Hey you ready to video chat?” followed by the rest of the pack saying “Eh give me a few.”. Setting an end time also helps eliminate the awkward battle of getting off the call.
Once happy hour begins, start off with virtual cheers to get the energy flowing! (that always seems to help)
You can gather some subjects on notecards like what is everyone up to this quarantine? any good books or tv shows? anybody have any recipes they’d like to share? Those are some great conversation starters that can ripple into other creative subjects! Maybe even have everyone share what their drinking?
Desperate times call for desperate measures and we’ve got you covered with some sweet ideas to keep the pals together.
Don’t let isolation get you down, reach out to your loved ones and express your emotions.
No one is in this alone and happy hour is still a GO!
