Weatherman accidentally turns on Facebook filters right as he goes live

Professional blunders are one of the funniest things to watch on social media or YouTube. Whether its presidents making funny verbal mistakes or newscasters forgetting they are on camera, we all love a good laugh.

This news reporter wasn’t aware that he activated “filters” right before he went live.

I have spent hours watching compilations of news reporters making funny mistakes and messing up their lines. It always pulls a laugh from me. Often, we view the news and certain forms of media as incredibly serious. When the charade of formality finally falls, it reminds us of how human we all are and how even the best of us can make mistakes.

It is always fun to see news bloopers like this.

Enter Justin Hinton. With one of the funniest news bloopers that I have seen, he takes it all in stride. Most news bloopers consist of a story that is embarrassing that causes the entire crew to laugh or a verbal slip-up that derails the show. What makes this story particularly funny is how unaware of the issue Justin is.

Right before going live, Justin flipped on the Facebook filters by accident.

Facebook filters are little animated additions that place themselves in the frame or video you are shooting. With these filters, you can make yourself look like a wizard or a potato! There is pretty much a filter for everything, as Justin is sure to find out later.

Starting the Livestream, Justin obviously has no idea that he is becoming comedic relief.

Reporting in Asheville, North Carolina, Justin steps into frame to tell the public about the first major snowfall of the season. While the snow was important, there probably wasn’t anyone listening to him!

All work, no play.

What makes the whole video funny is the fact that Justin has no idea that there is anything wrong. He is very professional and does his best to talk to the people who rely on him for news. With his professional demeanor, the filters were even funnier. It’s the whole “someone telling you not to laugh” thing that makes you laugh anyway.

Finding out what happened, Justin took it like a champ.

Posting on his own Facebook after the fact, Justin has a laugh at his own expense (something we all need to do sometimes). His post said:

“Right before going live on Facebook on the WLOS ABC 13 station account to talk about snow, I somehow activated a filter generator. The photog I was working with said something about the screen having weird faces. He didn’t elaborate, so I said it would probably go away. Needless to say, it did not go away.”

Letting everyone know that it happened, Justin had a good laugh with his coworkers and bosses.

Sharing on is Facebook, Justin said:

“My bosses, coworkers, friends PIOs and more called/texted saying how funny it was,”

With a good laugh, and probably a few more viewers than normal, this news blooper is a great reminder that we all make mistakes and it is good to laugh at them.

Adding wizard, Olympian, and gym bro to his news personalities, we all enjoyed the change of pace in from the weather.
