5 weird reasons why your cat is licking you

If you are a cat owner, then you know how finicky cats are. One minute they want to have nothing to do with you and the next, they are rubbing up against you, a purring cuddle machine. And sometimes, they like to lick you with their rough tongue.

But why exactly does your cat like to lick you? The weird reasons might surprise you.

One of the weird reasons your cat might start licking you is because of how you taste. In many cases, this is immediately after you spill something that they find interesting. Chances are some of whatever you spilled got on you and they are just trying to check it out.

Or maybe they just like the way you taste to begin with. Unless it is a harmful chemical, it is better to just let it happen as it is better to let your cat lick you while you are awake as opposed to waking up with their tongue licking you during the night.

One thing cats are known for is their tendency to get anxious, with the smallest things setting this anxiety off. One way a cat deals with this is to lick themselves and objects around them, including you.

So, the next time you notice your cat licking you, ask yourself if they might be stressed out about something in the environment.
