Widow shows up for makeover in tears – but walks out a bubbly blond bombshell

When she arrived at the Minneapolis, Minnesota “appearance studio” of the world-famous Makeover Guy, aka Christopher Hopkins, 52-year-old Maggie burst into tears before anyone even touched a hair on her head.

Tears during makeovers are common – but usually during or after.

Alas, Maggie flew in from her home in Vero Beach, Florida in November 2019 with a very sad story.

Dark times call for drastic measures

Maggie had been widowed the year before. Her police officer husband died just one day after he retired. Of course, she was devastated and still trying to find ways to piece her life back together.

After this kind of trauma, it’s normal to want to make a big change. And while a makeover might seem like a small thing, it can give people a whole new lease on life – something Maggie needed after her future plans were torn away from her so suddenly.

During her video, she got very emotional while talking about her husband, but she did see a reason to keep on going.

“The bad is I lost my husband – and the good is I have grandbabies.”

Thanks to Hopkins, she walked out the door looking like a whole new person!

The big makeover

As you can see, Maggie is lovely to begin with, but even her late husband had sometimes told her she needed to put herself first.

And now was the time – the makeover not only cheered Maggie up but made her feel like she was going something her husband would have been proud of.

The style team started by figuring out what to do with Maggie’s dark blonde hair and white roots.

When they decided to go blonder, she couldn’t believe her eyes. She loved her golden tresses.

“Oh my God, I’d never of thought I’d look like this. That does not look like me at all,” she exclaimed.

Saying she feels like she’s still in her 30s, Hopkins and his team gave her a more youthful look, which they also accomplished through makeup. And with such beautiful skin to start, it wasn’t hard to play up her features.

By evening out her skin tone with foundation and using some contouring, the makeup team took years off her face. And they decided the emphasis would be on her eyes.

They made them pop thanks to some mascara and – most importantly – a good brow fill. She had been overplucking, but nice, full brows made a huge, positive difference.

Then they added just a bit of color to her lips.

A new woman

Nothing about the makeover was too drastic, and yet Hopkins drew out all of Maggie’s best features.

And you can tell she’s happy with the results by the way she holds herself in the “after” interviews. It’s like her confidence is back.

Maggie knows she looks great – and commenters had a lot of positive things to say about the makeover as well.

“I am literally standing up, applauding. This is his best makeover!” said one.

Hopkins has hundreds of viral videos, but this is a particularly good one. In fact, it now has over 600k views!

“This is by far my favorite makeover! Omgosh, she looks at least twenty years younger! Love her heart! Another Great Job Christopher, you knocked it out of the park!”
