Sharea Overman and Nate Overman are parents to three young boys. Making a relationship work is in itself a lot of work. Having kids takes that to a whole new level. Parents reading this would know.

Now while there are lots of factors that come in to play when making a marriage work, most couples will say that laughter is a huge requirement. Sharea and Nate are no different.

Having three boys will drain any parent.

Sharea and Nate learned that the best way to keep their sanity (and relationship) intact is to laugh with each other and at each other. They’ve been together for years so it’s definitely working!

An opportunity to have fun at her husband’s expense came when the Overmans decided to go on a road trip.

The family was headed to Indiana to visit family. Nate, of course, was behind the wheel as most dads do during family trips. It was your normal family road trip, parents in front, three boys in the back – when Sharea noticed something.

Nate looked a little too comfortable in the driver’s seat. Almost as if he was sleeping.

“Man, he really looks like he is passed out in the driver’s seat.”

She thought.

So Sharea, being a photographer herself, snapped a photo of her “sleeping” husband and decided to use it as a means to prank Nate.

“I’m a part of this group of incredibly talented photographers on Facebook. So, I decided to post the photo and asked people to photoshop some fun backgrounds into the photo. To make it look like he fell asleep while all these crazy things were going on.”

Sharea told CNN.

She shared the photo to that photographers’ group on Facebook asking members to photoshop anything and everything on the window so she could show Nate when he came to.

Submissions started rolling in. Sharea got what she wanted and she couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the entries. She finally told Nate what she was up to on her phone.

“He thought it was hilarious. We had a great life and a great rest of the car ride, and that was it,” she recalled.

Both husband and wife got a good laugh and thought that their little prank was over. But after a few days, Sharea discovered her post had gone viral. Nate’s photoshopped images started pouring in from people in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Alaska.

Sharea only wanted to have a little fun but to her surprise, that little prank of hers gained so much attention all around the world. Even people who fell on hard times found themselves laughing at Nate’s photos!

“There are people who have broken down and told us just how hard this year has been for them and that this is the first time they’ve been able to have a really good laugh at something,” she told CNN. “It’s been so humbling because what started out as something so silly, has turned into all of this. We are putting smiles on faces we don’t even know.”

They may not have planned it but we’re glad this prank went viral!
