Woman puts water fountain with camera in her yard and shares photos of her regular "visitors"

Jennifer George lives in San Diego Country County, California. Various kinds of animals wander in her yard from a distance. Mammals and birds like to have a good stroll in her yard.

One hot day in 2019, George had an idea and decided to get some drinking water for a family of coyote pups. After that, this simple act grew into a wholesome hobby.

At first, she just left a simple metal bowl of water for the little critters which suddenly became popular among the local animals as it can get really hot in California. George then upgraded it to a bigger bowl and a solar fountain.

Now a variety of animals come to visit her yard for a refreshing drink or even a refreshing bath.

She also put there a hidden camera to learn about the behaviors of her many visitors. But now it’s not only limited to mammals and birds, even reptiles join the party!

1.) It can see you

It seems like this Coyote is a clever one. Look at the eyes while it drinks the freshwater. As if it knows it’s being watched.

2.) A morning visitor hops into the fountain

Rabbits are known to be busy at dusk and dawn. This is the time when they go venture out for food and water. The reason for this is that the low light allows them to hide from predators. So what we are seeing here is the rabbit’s morning drink.

3.) Bath time for this couple

Looks like this couple loves to take baths. The bird on the right enjoys a relaxing bath time but the other one looks really excited. You can see it having fun with the splashes it makes.

4.) Striking a pose before diving

This bathing bird is an odd one. Look at how it strikes a pose before diving in. As if it knows there’s a camera watching it.

5.) It owns the fountain

This Turkey Vultures acts like he owns the fountain. The way it looks around while gargling shows that it is watching out for other animals. With its poise and gaze, it looks like other animals will have to wait until this big guy is done and leaves.

6.) This bandit is having a water break

https://www.instagram.com/p/CHsd6UJpCbq/

Raccoons are sometimes called “Trash Pandas”. This is because they have the same color as a panda and loves digging through trash like a red panda. So here, it looks like this Raccoon is taking a break from digging through the trash for treasures.

7.) A thirsty boy

https://www.instagram.com/p/CG2dqqhpYcY/

Surely there will a good boy among the visitors. He looks like he’s very thirsty, he even went back for more after drinking a big amount of water. Now that this good boy is not thirsty anymore, he is ready for new adventures.

8.) He brought a friend

We got more Coyote visitors now. It seems that the family of coyotes she helped had more family members. But it’s alright, there is enough water for every animal in the area.

9.) A Raptor’s bath

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLGLaBLJwBC/

Yes, it is named after a dinosaur. Now you’re wondering why it is named after that. The word raptor came from the Latin word ‘Rapere’, which means to seize and plunder – an apt way to describe how a bird swoops down to its prey. So with that, we have here a bathing Raptor.

10.) Just sniffing around

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNoU7oTJayY/

This is a Bobcat. It is often mixed up with a Lynx. Both animals are the same in size but they live in different habitats. This Bobcat here is not here for the free bath or drinks but looking for dinner. Hopefully, it’s not one of the visitors of the water fountain.

11.) This Hawk was not amused

https://www.instagram.com/p/CPB0RcCpkjT/

The free bath and drinks did not amuse this Hawk. You can see it on its face and if that not enough for you, The hawk even blurted out a “meh” just express that it is not impressed. Well, we’re sorry Mr. Hawk, we’ll do better next time.

12.) Our sniffing friend is back

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNzxlQRJ5wv/

Our Bobcat friend is back, but now it’s drinking! It must be tired and thirsty with the tracking it’s done. Go on, have a drink. You deserve it.
