Woman rescues cat with 'saddest eyes' and now he can't stop purring

There are just moments when you think that a meeting was fated to happen.

A 6-year-old tabby was rescued and taken to the Animal Humane Society to be rehabilitated. The cat, named Bruce Willis, was in bad shape when he came in.

He had scars all over his body. Some of his teeth are broken. He even has an eye injury that never really healed well maybe because of his tough life on the streets. To make matters worse, he also has an immunodeficiency disease.

Through all of those, he still manages to muster the strength to do what he does best.

Staff at the Animal Humane Society thought that Willis was running on a motor whenever he gives us his mighty purr. He purrs so loudly that the doctors had a hard time tracking his heartbeat.

Coupled with his eternally sad eyes, his charm was really irresistible. No one knew what happened to Willis or where he came from, but it was just fortunate that he got into a shelter.

His rescue was only the beginning, however.

The unfortunate reality is that shelter animals spend most of their lives fighting for survival and not knowing what love feels like.

Then, once they’re rescued, they’ll go through the long and arduous process of getting adopted. Willis waited in that queue in hopes that he will be chosen.

Little did he know, a woman named Sandra was already looking at his pictures.

Sandra said that she was scrolling through her Instagram feed when she came across Willis’ case on the Animal Humane Society’s page.

Sandra, seeing Willis’ sad eyes, couldn’t help but consider adopting him. However, their apartment complex didn’t allow any pets.

Sandra visited the shelter several times to check on Willis and through all of those times, she found out that no one was really interested in adopting him – except for her.

Sandra then decided to talk to her landlord.

Showing him Willis’ adorable sad eyes, she managed to win him over. Sandra then took Willis home with her and the cat couldn’t be happier.

In their video in The Dodo, Willis quickly purred to the things that interested him the moment he got out of the crate.

He might be showing his appreciation for Sandra or expressing his joy toward things that he can only dream of like warm food, a comfortable bed, and affection.

In this new life, he also gets to have toys.

Even with his sad eyes, you know that he’s just one happy kitty when he’s chasing around feathers and toy rats.

He still has his signature purr, though, especially when he sits at the dining table and pleasantly waits for his food to be served.

All in all, he’s experiencing life far from what he was used to. Instead of fighting for his life, he’s loved and cared for. Instead of taking shelter in whatever shed he can get to, he has a warm bed to go to. And instead of being alone, he can go cuddle with Sandra anytime he wants.
