Growing up, Nicole Grimes always wanted a puppy. Finally, when she turned 10 years old, her dream became a reality. Her mom and grandma met her after school one day with a big surprise —a Pomeranian-poodle mix wearing a pink bow.

Nicole was ecstatic and the two bonded instantly.

Nicole “loved her to death”, and for several years, she and the pup named Chloe spent pretty much every day playing together. Although, unfortunately, their time was cut short by circumstances out of the family’s control.

“4 or so years later my dad got a job where we couldn’t have a dog, so I had to give her up. It was so hard. We gave her to the Washington Humane Society and I never knew what happened to her,” Nicole explained on Facebook.

She thought she would never see the dog again, but 7 years later, Nicole once again got a big surprise.

This time, it was entirely by accident. Nicole was browsing Facebook when she noticed a post from a friend about a Pomeranian-poodle mix in need of a new home.

“I saw a post from a fb friend needing to rehome their elderly dog. She looked very similar to my old dog….and she shared the same name….” wrote Nicole.

All Nicole’s great childhood memories of her long lost Chloe instantly came flooding back.

However, there were also a lot of strange coincidences that Nicole just couldn’t shake. Not only did the dog on Facebook look exactly like the puppy she had growing up, but it also was named Chloe.

“On a whim I said I’d take her in! I just had this feeling… When we got her, right away she just fit right in. There was just something about her!!” Nicole wrote.

At this point, Nicole was now 21 and married with a kid of her own.

She hoped that the pup would be able to give her daughter Violet the same joy she had once experienced so long ago with her own childhood puppy.

“As the day went on, different things she did/how she acted was EXACTLY what my old Chloe did. Last night I was holding her and just cried and cried because that dog was hugging me back and I just held her close to my heart. I just knew in my heart this was my Chloe.”

The coincidences just kept adding up and Nicole quickly became positive that it was the same dog.

She decided to do some digging to see what she could find out.

“The girl who I just got her from (who had her for two years after Chloe’s elderly owner passed) said she spoke to the elderly owners nephew who said he took her years ago to the Washington humane society to adopt a dog who was already named Chloe…” wrote Nicole.

She then called the humane society office, and with a quick check of their adoption records, they were able to confirm Nicole’s suspicions.

It was the same Chloe!

The two were finally reunited again.

“My mom has prayed lately for a sign from my nana and we know this is it. I am so happy, excited, blessed to have this beloved dog back and to get to love her for the remainder of her life. I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d ever see this dog again but here she is,” wrote Nicole.

It’s a pretty incredible story. The two never thought they would see each other again, but by pure chance, the dog found its way back into Nicole’s life. The family will be forever grateful for the surprise reunion and plan on giving Chloe as much love as possible in her final years. Chloe is not the spry puppy she once was, but she is still just as joyful as ever.
