While the series is enjoyable to watch, Judge Frank Caprio had made it clear that his main goal is to serve justice.

Some of his cases are funny, some of them have backstories that will just make you cry, and some can even give us life lessons.

Last January 17, 2020, Caught in Providence’s YouTube channel uploaded one of their episodes that gained more than 14 million views. It was the case of Joanne Ash, who had three red-lights violations on Allons Avenue and Terminal Street.

At first, the woman was shocked to know that she had a total of five violations. Judge Caprio told her that they would start watching all the clips, and to his surprise, the woman said that she was guilty and there was no need to watch the tapes.

“I’m not going to waste your time. I’m not even going to bother. I’m serious,” said Ash.

Even though the kind judge was surprised, he still insisted that they should watch the videos. Then he explained why.

“The reason I wanted to see this is because, you notice how there were two stop lines? There’s one and then there’s two. Okay? And then there’s another line a little past that, so there’s a great deal of confusion at this location.”

Ash listened attentively as Judge Caprio explained that the first two clips are being dismissed.

As they tried to look at the third clip, the judge asked Ash if she still refuses to see them, to which she laughed and said:

“Oh! I want see more of that.”

Everyone burst into laughter, and she explained why she refused to see the clips at first.

Ash explained that she didn’t want to take everyone’s time.

The other clips showed that Ash did go through the red light, and she was penalized $170. She was, of course, shocked at the amount, even saying that it was a lot of money.

She asked the judge if she can have a month to pay the fee, and Judge Caprio said she can have a month. He asked if she could pay some of the fee that day, to which she said no.

The kind judge reviewed the other clips and decided to give Ash a break, reducing the penalty to $85.

Thankful, Ash said she can pay that amount in a week, but the judge said she can pay it in a month.
