Woman takes $15k and builds her dream gypsy wagon tiny home during lockdown
The pandemic and the lockdowns that came with it have left a lot of people with a tons of free time on their hands. Some of them took it as an opportunity to learn something new while others chose to relax and prioritize their mental health.
One woman used her free time to build a tiny home.
Well, it’s not just an ordinary tiny home; it’s a tiny gypsy wagon. A tour inside the adorable home has left a lot of people wishing they have one on their property.
Stephanie built the her wagon for one reason.
She wanted to travel again but she didn’t want to do it in any old trailer. With her age, she needed something more comfortable.
During Covid lockdown, she went out on a mission.
Since her business hours weren’t as demanding, she had extra time to make a plan. She didn’t have a lot of background in constructing tiny homes. However, with a bit of help from the internet and being a handy person, she was able to pull it off.
She named her tiny wagon Misty.
It’s 84 square feet in size. It’s a bit small but she was able to make it look bigger by building it on an angle.
Stephanie picked the materials on her own.
She picked birch plywood. It’s a lightweight and aromatic material. In fact, you can smell it as soon as you walk in. To make every part beautiful, she added charms and decorative items.
She was able to install lovely copper sink and mirrors, both of them were from oversees. These elements helped Stephanie add her own vibe to the home. Every inch reflects her personality and charm.
Apart from being beautiful, Misty is completely functional too!
Stephanie’s kitchen comes with a sink and stove. She has running water as well. As for her appliances, most of them are running on propane.
There were tons of storage space as well.
Misty’s details were very carefully planned. And because of that, Stephanie was able to maximize every inch of space. She has her clothing rack below her loft. And even though it’s such a small space, Stephanie doesn’t mind.
Her loft area promotes calmness.
It has an arched ceiling which made it look bigger and higher that it actually is. She was also able to fit a memory foam mattress there. Even her dog has a space in her room!
Stephanie is so happy with everything she did with Misty.
She shared:
“My plan was to build a space where I feel safe and that cheers me up, that makes me smile when I enter, and it does and I’m really happy about that. so if you are interested in building one… if I can do it you can do it.”
The total cost of building her tiny wagon was only $15,000.
Compared with the costs of other tiny homes, the Misty is definitely on the more affordable side. One of the things that made that possible was Stephanie’s will to turn her dream into a reality. She built Misty by herself with little to no background on construction.
