Woman hilariously chronicles the trials of trying to care for a stray who won’t stop visiting

Erin Breean was getting regular visits from a mysterious stray cat at her home in Austin, Texas.

She and her partner, Landon, were loving the visits from their furry friend and even gave the little guy a name: Kevin.

Kevin wasn’t super affectionate and wouldn’t let the humans touch him, but was very keen on the food he was getting and some attention… from a distance. Classic cat move.

Eventually, Erin wanted to find out who the little guy was, and managed to get him in a carrying cage so she could bring him to the vet and see if he was microchipped.

She never could have prepared for all that the vet visit was about to reveal.

First of all, Kevin was a girl. Secondly, he wasn’t chipped and was determined to most likely be a stray.

And last but certainly not least, Kevin was pregnant.

Erin loves animals and couldn’t just let a pregnant cat back out on the streets to fend for him herself. So she decided to take her in until she gave birth.

Kevin got along well with Murphy, Erin, and Landon’s dog, so it was easy to welcome her into the home.

As a little gift to the rest of the world, Erin documented the whole thing on social media to share with us.

To prepare to give birth, Kevin found a cozy and very private spot. Cats often want to give birth in private and where they feel safe, so they seek out hidden nooks or hard to reach places.

In Erin’s home, Kevin found a tiny space between some cabinets and set up her birthing spot.

It was full of construction dust and scraps, and was entirely inaccessible to Erin and Landon, but felt like a prime location to Kevin.

And so they waited and waited. They were so exited to see the little kittens!

Erin started collecting opinions from her followers about how many would be born, based on the vet’s estimate that this would be Kevin’s first pregnancy.

Cats tend to have smaller litters (around 4-5) the first time, and then increasingly larger (up to 10 kittens!) if they get pregnant again.

And then it finally happened!

Four little baby Kevins were born happy and healthy.

Erin’s social media updates went viral, and she found herself with more than five thousand likes, comments and shares.

Kevin’s unusual story had drawn in many adoring fans!

It’s no wonder. Look at how cute this little bunch is!

Erin and Landon couldn’t keep five cats, so they arranged to help find the kittens loving forever homes.

They were adopted by personal friends of the couple, so they were sure they were going to good people who would take care of them.

Which also meant they would be able to see the little guys again!

“As for Kevin….well…. she and Murphy are besties now, and we promised him he could keep her. SOOO she’ll be staying with us…after getting fixed!” – Erin wrote on Facebook

Will they change Kevin’s name to something more… motherly? Perhaps. Though it’s such a cute story that keeping her as a Kevin is a reminder of the whole ordeal. Not to mention hilarious. And let’s be honest, she won’t know the difference.
