Their home flooded, meaning that they had to move into a hotel at the last minute. Randi Jo, her husband and their young children were navigating their daily lives without the conveniences they were used to.

But some of the other guests in the hotel were making their stay much worse than it could have been. They were teenagers who were living it up.

Like most high school-aged people, they were rowdy. Often, they were staying up all night, talking loudly and listening to music all the while.

After the first night, Randi Jo wanted to tell the teenagers what she and her kids were going through. But Randi Jo didn’t see them in the daytime.

Randi Jo had to put up with the noise for one more night until her son noticed which hotel room they were staying in.

So the next evening, when the teens had returned to the hotel and were starting to get loud again, Randi Jo went to their room to confront them.

“I let them know about our house being destroyed by water. I told them we wanted them to have their fun and we would appreciate their respect to let our kids get good rest.” – Randi Jo Amt.

Luckily, the teens were receptive to Randi Jo. They told her that they were very sorry for making her and her family’s lives even more difficult.

Randi Jo appreciated that the teens had seemed apologetic and went back to her room. But hours later, she saw something new that the teens had done.

They had slipped a note under Randi Jo’s door. The mother wondered what it said.

Would they mock her? So she opened it. But before she read the note, she saw that something shocking was wrapped in the note.

There was a wad of cash in the middle. Clearly, the kids had wanted to not just apologize for disturbing Randi Jo and her kids but also help them out.

The words on the note were simple. It was a further apology. The teens also said that they hoped that everything would go well with her home.

Soon, people tried to get into contact with the teens to thank them for their gesture.

A local news channel was able to locate them and interview them. The kids were all part of Eureka Junior-Senior High School. The kids told the reporters that they were happy to have helped out and shown that teenagers can be responsible.

The news report also stated that Randi Jo decided to not keep the money. Instead, she donated it to a homelessness charity.

Pretty soon, the family’s home was fixed up, and they could move back in. But they returned with a new sense of faith in others.
