Woman sees emaciated dog and her puppies then pleads with the owner to hand them over to her
Lisa of Frankie, Lola & Friends Rescue received a phone call about a mama dog and her three puppies who were in desperate need of help. She quickly got ready and headed down to Los Angeles to see what was going on.
The owner wasn’t exactly caring for the dogs even though they had a home. Lisa soon found the place and the owner immediately welcomed her inside the property to her surprise.
Then she saw the poor state of the dogs. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
Lisa revealed her reaction in an interview with The Dodo, saying that seeing the dogs in the yard âwas pretty upsetting.â
The mama dog she heard of was heavily chained and was âcompletely emaciatedâ. But the female’s poor condition didn’t stop her from showing happiness when seeing people see people.
Lisa was greeted by enthusiastic wagging by the chained mother.
The yard was filthy, full of trash and dirt, but that didn’t stop the puppies from playing around either. The pups looked to be in a better state than their mom considering they weren’t exactly getting all the care required.
The dogs’ owner was a little hesitant but thankfully acknowledged that the dogs needed a lot of help. He didn’t know there were other options and resources available for his situation.
He had a lot of dogs and recognized that he needed help.
The owner found a crate for the puppies so he put them inside before Lisa loaded them into her van. He had no issues giving Lisa the pups but he couldn’t part with the mama dog.
âThe owner looked right at me and said, âYouâre not getting her,’â Lisa told The Dodo.
She understood that the owner had an attachment to the mama dog but Lisa also knew that she had to think quickly. The mama dog wouldn’t survive for much longer in her poor state.
Lisa offered the man her support and resources knowing full well that guilt-tripping him wasn’t right. She had to act fast for the sake of the dog.
So she gave him tips like moving her inside when it gets cold at night even promising to bring a blanket and bed for the mama dog.
Lisa then told him that she wanted to get the mama dog vaccinated, promising him that she’d be in touch shortly. All Lisa wanted to do was help the mama dog get the help she needed.
Her kindness had a positive effect on the owner leading to Lisa opening the van so she could take the mama dog with her. The dog was so happy to be freed that she never even looked back.
âWe didnât leave any dogs behind,â Lisa said.
The mama dog has been named Mama Lucky. She’s gained a healthy amount of weight and is now loving her new life. What’s even better is that all the dogs have found loving homes with owners who truly care for them!
